The zealots side stepped the rounds. Two of them entered active camo disappearing from sight while the tallest one remained. It ran forward slamming its wight into the unnamed troops while the grenade blow up far behind him, the elite lifted its arm high the gold almost glowing in the sunlight as he slammed the blade he held onto Arthur slicing down from his shoulder to his waist. The elite brought the sword out of the corpse before turning to the named marine squad. The two materialised next to the larger one. One held a large rifle and the other held a smaller blue one, while the tall one carried something between the two sizes. All wielded down swords.

A two pronged ship can down behind them, more grunts, jackels and a blue elite lept out

Lorraine sighed and grabbed grenades from the others waists, she pulled all their pins and threw them in front of the three zealots “NOW’S OUR CHANCE, GO”

Jordan nodded and followed after them. He shot his grenade launcher at the zealots.

Omar continued fleeing, hoping the soldiers would follow him.

Sky sat heartbroken, crying on the mining vessel as it quickly exited atmosphere. She had watched her father die from a window… And that thing had killed him.

Lorraine grabbed the statues by the back of the neck and dragged them with her as she ran with the others. “We definitely had to kill at least one, there’s no way all three survived that many grenades”

“Lets pray you’re right” Ammon replied as Katrina followed behind her teammates, shooting in the direction of the Elites before Ammon grabbed her by the collar and hauled her off.

The taller one stepped out of the smoke glaring towards the running humans.
A howl of pain split the are and the tallest one turned to see the plasma rifle wielding zealot had been horribly burnt up the left side of his body.
The burnt one slowly stood up the broken handle of a plasma rife still gripped in his hand and a clear limp in one leg.
The beam rifle zealot came over to the taller one and several strange sounds and gestures were shared between them.

The three turned to the running humans and began to slowly follow

Omar and the others ran far from the evac site. Omar stopped to catch his breath, however this was mostly trying to cope with the grievous loss of life he had just witnessed. He finally composed himself after a minute, and the squad continued normally down the road. Omar had no idea where he was going.

Loraine pulled her last grenade off her belt and a piece of string, setting up a trip wire at the end of the alley way they came out from in case the covenant decided to follow, then concealed it with trash and leaves before continuing

Andrew stopped. “We far enough?”
He asked readying his magnum, seeing he dropped his battle rifle.

Ammon whistled a tune, reloading as Katrina anxiously looked over her shoulder over and over again, as if she expected some alien to leap out of nowhere and devour her.

“Th-there should be a bunker up ahead… Don’t hear anything, so it might be relatively empty…” Omar said as they continued down the street. All of a sudden, bodies could be seen in the street. UNSC Marines, Grunts and Jackals mostly, save for the occasional civilian. Omar continued following the corpses.

Omar looked up as they finally reached the bunker. It was opened about a foot, and so he went to peek inside, and immediately wished he didn’t.

Blood, gore, and horribly mutilated corpses littered the ground, causing Omar to nearly drop his rifle, covering his mouth with a hand. A wet, sloshing sound could be heard at the back. He slowly scanned the dark bunker, his face contorting with more and more disgust as his eyes found a group of moving shapes in the back. He turned on his flashlight briefly to reveal the forms of shieldless Jackals ripping the meat off of the bones of the dead, and eating them with their beaks. Omar immediately dropped his rifle, backing away from the inhumane, utterly gruesome scene of brutality.
