What caused all of the Makuta to simultaneously turn into gaseous Antidermis? Did it just happen randomly or did something cause it to happen?

According to Biosector01, the evolution of the Makuta was a natural event.
It might be that Antidermis is simply unstable as a solid and will sublimate after a set amount of time has passed.
Or, since Teridax was intended to control a Great Spirit Robot someday, it could’ve been programmed by the Great Beings, since I don’t think Makuta could possess other beings or machinery before the transformation.

I’d agree with this.
In that regard it might be interesting to know if Kraata/Rahkshi would turn gaseous if they become old enough, too…
