Risebell's Stuff

I’m gonna throw my 2 cents in, it means nothing.

Personally, I don’t really care for Star Trek, mainly because I didn’t grow up with it necessarily.
And because I didn’t grow up with it, I don’t really find it entertaining.
Although I have seen the movies, old and new.

No, I don’t have enough CCBS to do that. I’m using it all on other MOCs.
Plus I’m too lazy to do anything custom.

I made a drawing of one of my ORIGINAL CHARACTERS DONUT STEEL
I suck at shading.
Maybe one day you’ll get to see this character and what I have in plan for it.
I have no idea.

Neat!

This is what I want my Bionicle drawings to look like.

Maybe if I stop using Paint…

I’m gonna try to make a big post giving good tips but it’s hard to put art into words but here goes:
So uh, what I’ve learned from years of drawing and from various artists, which I tried to apply here is basically these 6 points:

  1. Keep your drawings simple: Simple is easy, fast and fun to draw. You have less opportunities to make mistakes happy accidents. Slowly build up from simple to complicated as your drawing skills improve.
1.5. Draw stylized: this ties in to drawing simple. Drawing stylized lets you ignore details and draw things you’re good at drawing at (Ex: certain brush strokes and shapes). In my experience, artists develop their own style overtime. Don’t pull a Larnuu and start drawing in your own style.
  2. be inspired: Very important. Remember to draw what inspires you and not what you think should inspire you. Inspiration is fuel for effort.
  3. Basic shapes: If you can break anything down into basic shapes, you can draw anything. Almost all art is just lines on a flat surface.
  4. Line work: Plan out your drawing, always draw lightly first, use multiple layers in your art programs. You’ll get a major improvement in your art.
  5. Use a reference: This is a drawing of one of my MOCs, so obviously I used a reference. The best way to get into comic book style art(IN MY OPINION) is to read lots of comics and use them as references. DON’T COPY ANIME.
  6. Don’t copy anime: if you draw in your weeaboo manga style, it’ll ‘corrupt’ your art and you’ll pick up some nasty habits when drawing. Don’t do it.

You’re dead on about the comic art style thing.

perfect example, you’ve infuenced my style
but really, I completely agree with this

like I personally prefer overall simplicity with subtle detail, like your art.

I don’t do this, I work as I go, but I visualize the image in my head.
seems to work for me, though that may be because of my style,
mileage may vary I guess.

DON’T COPY ANIME

Yeah,I’ve already seen it on DA.

For some reason his description was
‘‘DONUTSTEEL, MY ORIGINAL CHARACTER
Also don’t like…
Repost the art I guess.
Like, I can’t stop you and I don’t make any money from this art but y’know.’’
