Salvation: Part II

“Then it’s worth the shot.” Scorchlock said calmly as he gestured with his hand.

“Alright… any idea how to, uh, get the cybermatter?”

“That one?” Thrift asks. “As in, the Death’s Head? The starship of the bounty hunter Lockdown, the infamous psycho that cuts up his victims and takes their body parts as trophies?”

The bombers were both of a flying wing design, with thin horizontal slits at the back of the vehicles marking their engines. The other five escorts tighten their formation around the two, while the Air Trooper chasing Starchaser continues his pursuit.

Brakeswitch transforms into a hovercar and darts behind the battlefield, leading Treadquake to Forcep.

Heavy marching thunders down the corridor ahead of Scorchlock.

“This isn’t gonna be easy.”
Starchaser said to herself, before suddenly getting an idea. She looped back around and landed on top of the trooper pursuing her. Grabbing on to the wings and trying to wrangle the it in a certain direction.

Treadquake follows quickly behind. His vehicle mode traveling a bit faster than one might assume it to be capable of at a glance.

Scorchlock lifted a metal eyebrow as he shifted his hips while looking at SideStep. “I thought you knew, hence why you suggested it.” He said.

King-Quan gets into a dark corner and blends in with the shadows, remaining undetected.

OOC: I think you mean, King-Quan.

The Air Trooper wrestles against Starchaser’s control, transforming to robot mode to throw her off of him.

Brakeswitch leads Treadquake to Forcep. Shockwave and Motherboard were beginning to pull back as the New Decepticons deployed more formidable troops against them.

■■■■■■■■■■■■ pauses in his carnage to gaze wide-eyed upon the insecticon queen. He had left Topside to interact with Arthropoda, on account of his disdain for the creatures; he had never seen the queen in person.

“I… Topside never told me she was so massive,” he says, equal parts awed and terrified. Facelift transforms to robot mode and leans in close to whisper:

“You think he can get me her number, captain?”

“Twenty-six! Twenty-seven!” Salvo shouts above the roar of her weapons. “Twenty-eight! What’s your score, shorty?”

Grommet lobs another toxic salvo from his cannons, felling a cluster of Ground Troopers.

“That makes twenty-five, I believe!” he calls to Salvo.

“Hm. Not bad,” the quartermaster comments, a wry smile forming behind her visor.

“Oh, if only my insufferable counterpart could see me now…” Grommet chuckles. “Where is Sprocket, come to think of it?”

Marching down the hall were Bludgeon and Banzaitron, surrounded by a force of six Mercenaries.

“Obsidian and Strika have had their fun,” the New Decepticons’ leader says. “Do not allow your personal vendettas to distract you from our true objective, my disciple.”

Banzaitron groans, rolling his optics.

“You wanted to come along.” Thrust said.
“We can do it, it’ll be fine.”[quote=“MichaelBT-7474, post:7654, topic:49995”]

“Hmf.” SideStep turned towards the Key and tried to twist the handle.

Thrift sighs.

“I’ve done some crazy, ill-advised, and downright-suicidal things in my life, but this… man, I survive this I’ll have all the bragging rights!” he exclaims, suddenly changing his tune mid-sentence.

“Let’s do this! Cowabunga it is!”

The handle clicks into place and the Blue Key’s lights flash. The device projects its holo-map, zooming in on the green orb representing OL-2 until it displays a transparent image of the fortress and Salvation above it. Tiny tracks of Blue Cybermatter begin to weep from the key’s lights.

She’s successfully thrown back, but easily regains her balance. Realizing this wouldn’t work, she tried something else. Flying back to the bombers, she transformed into her prop-fighter mode and fired her heavy rifle at the engines of one of the two bombers.

Treadquake pulled up. Stopping just in front of the medic.

Pathetic.
He thought. It was the only word he could think to describe what he saw. Such a legendary decepticon on the back foot against forces such as this.
As soon as I get patched up I’ll show them how it’s really done.

The Splitter brothers chuckled as they rocketed towards the Death’s Head. [quote=“Chromeharpoon, post:7657, topic:49995”]

“There we go.”
SideStep held the Blue Key over the terminal so that the Cybermatter would drip onto it.

Spectrum ran towards Forcep, chirping happily.

The bombers bank to the sides to evade the shots, and Starchaser’s pursuer resumes his jet mode and rockets after her, firing his blasters.

Another one of the escorts breaks off to heckle Starchaser.

Forcep smiles as he sees Spectrum approach.

“I assume you’ve come to me for repairs?” he sighs to Treadquake.

Plasma turrets on the Death’s Head’s bow swivel to face Thrift and the Splitter brothers, opening fire on the jets. Within the ship, Lockdown prepares to combat these new foes personally.

The Blue Cybermatter drips onto the terminal and begins to weave its way through the machine’s parts. The shimmering cerulean liquid begins to pull circuits together and mend cracked boards, the mechanisms emitting bursts of sparks as they are slowly put back into working order.

Thunderblast, Obsidian, and Strika watch the battle from the bridge of the Vigilant. Obsidian closes his commlink and turns to the other two.

“Enough toying with the enemy,” the general announces. “Bludgeon’s just given the order: mobilize Siege Walkers and deploy a Predacon clone.”

“But Abominus isn’t ready for deployment yet,” Thunderblast coolly objects. “That infiltrator and her friend set the combination retrofit procedures back by another week, at least.”

“He wasn’t referring to Abominus, Your Excellency,” Obsidian clarifies himself. “We have thirteen clones in total, after all.”

Spectrum walked up next to Forcep, ready to help. [quote=“Chromeharpoon, post:7660, topic:49995”]

“Turrets? That’s weak.”
The brothers barrel roll, avoiding the plasma. They begin to fire their own weapons, targeting the turrets first. [quote=“Chromeharpoon, post:7660, topic:49995”]

“Thaaaat’s it. Come on now.” SideStep said, encouraging the Cybermatter.

King-Quan heard the voice of Bludgeon, however, he couldn’t attack them as he gave a slight glance. He was with his apprentice and six mercenaries. It wasn’t the time, he had to resist the urge of attacking them and he did. And so, he waited for them to pass as he remained hidden, not even a single sound came through.

“If I knew you had a key that literally is a cybermatter generator, I would have used it…like five minutes ago.” Scorchlock deadpanned as he glanced at the terminal being repaired slowly but surely.

Two of the six turrets are destroyed, the other four maintaining their fire as a porthole opens behind them, and a lift raises Lockdown into view. The bounty hunter steps off the platform as his visor slides over his face, and he scans the sky acquire his targets.

With how little Blue Cybermatter the key was putting out, the repairs were going to take some time, unless our heroes found a way to somehow speed things up.

Bludgeon and his guards walk right past King-Quan.

The Splitter brothers break formation, each targeting separate turrets. They all fire their weapons as they draw closer to the Death’s Head. [quote=“Chromeharpoon, post:7663, topic:49995”]

“Hmm.”
SideStep tried to shake the Key slightly.

“Good idea.” Scorchlock deadpanned.

“I don’t hear you coming up with anything better, yeah?” SideStep retorted.

The turrets are overwhelmed as Lockdown steps closer to the action, the missile pods on his arms sliding upward to rest on his shoulders. He stops, feet shoulder-width apart as his targeting system locks onto Thrift and three Splitter brothers. Four red-tipped missiles fly out of the pods, each leaving a trail of smoke in their wake as they rocket toward a different target.

This doesn’t do much to make the key produce more cybermatter.

As Bludgeon and his guards walked right past King-Quan he remained silent. He made sure that after they were far enough, he would get out and follow them through the shadows.

“I’m not the idiot who designed the trials…” He said. “So.” He shrugged indifferently.

“Well let’s try something else, then.”
SideStep tried to turn the key more.
