Salvation: Part II

“That is the plan, crewman,” ■■■■■■■■■■■■ says coldly. “Flyby should be up here soon to take us out of orbit. Then, we will mobilize search teams to retrieve the next piece of the Omega Lock.”

“Sure wish we had one of those ground bridges,” Topside remarks. “It’d make mobilizing troops a might less of a hassle.”

'If there is one down there, I’ll see if we can salvage it." Zepar said.

“If I recall, sirs,” Greasemonkey’s gentle voice chimes in from Topside’s end of the connection, “we’ve had data and perhaps schematics for a ground bridge aboard for some time now, since we visited that colony-to-be with the insecticons. Unfortunately, however, it would seem that our resident expert on Exploration Age-era technology has been unable to find use for it, as of yet.”

Zepar looks at the Allspark hologram, Primus, please reveal to us the path we must take to restore your divine might. He mentally prays.

Zepar’s prayers seem to be heeded: a map of Salvation appears over the Allspark hologram, highlighting the Omega Conflux at the rear of the Fleetcarrier.

Zepar begins heading for the Omega Conflux, taking this as a sign.

The pilgrim follows Zepar, and their journey would go unimpeded as they arrive at the spacious chamber housing the Omega Key, and the ancient machinery Spectrum had plugged it into. The Key’s glittering holo-map shone above the hovering platform, whose rings emitted pulsing green lights, and a small moat of Blue Cybermatter surrounded the central dais, on which the Conflux’s console rose beneath a model of cybertron, flanked by the four Knight statues our heroes had seen many times throughout their journey.

The pilgrim looks around the room in awe; it was like stepping out of a modern vessel and into the lavish interior of the Knight ships of eons long passed.

Zepar examines the Blue Cybermatter and the console closely.

The Blue Cybermatter was the same substance the Omega Key had been shown to produce many times, which possessed regenerative powers and the ability to teleport people and objects when exposed to high amounts of energy.

The console resembled the one in the control tower in Planet Omega’s spaceport, with a flat, square table protruding from its bulbous control panel to scan items to produce upgrades for Salvation.

Zepar’s mind begins to race, thinking of ways to use this Blue Cybermatter to create a ground bridge. He reaches out to the console, Where is the piece of the Omega Lock that sleeps on this world and what defenses guard it? He asks in his mind.

The console chirps as it comes to life, displaying a hololgram of a massive structure, clearly cybertronian in origin, standing alone in a bowl-shaped valley with high mountains looming in the distance. Energon cascades down the central tower of the fortress, trickling out into the valley around it in meandering rivers.

Unfortunately, the console gave no information as to where this fortress was, or what defenses it maintained.

Praise be to Primus. Zepar thought as he examined the hologram. Does it require this Omega Key? He asks the console.

In reply, the console simply displays a familiar phrase that had popped up more than once on this lengthy voyage, written in cyberglyphics:

“The light of the Allspark shall illuminate even the darkest hours, and thwart the forces of chaos and evil, until comes the day when its children return to its embrace, and all are one.”

The glyphs spelling out the first part of the phrase glowed the same blue as the lights on the Omega Key, while the second part of the saying shone with the same green aura as the markings on OL-2006-2-C.

Zepar tries to acquire a map of the planet and fortress. “We have our goal, now we wait for deployment.” He said.

“What is your name, brother?” He asked the pilgrim.

Zepar is able to acquire a map of OL-2006-2C, but it was over a hundred million years out of date, and clearly no longer gave an accurate account of the planet’s geography. Of the fortress, however, Zepar could find little else.

“I’m Venture,” the pilgrim identifies herself.

This map will need to be updated. He said, But, it’s better than nothing.

“Well met, Venture.” He said with a kind smile.

Venture nods in reply.

“Thank you,” she says.

He gives a nod in kind. “Would you like to meet a rather eccentric friend of mine?” He asks. “If you ask nicely, he may help supply you with some equipment for this mission.”

SideStep’s chuckle turned into a fuller laugh as he continued onto the final destination. [quote=“Chromeharpoon, post:6121, topic:49995”]
SideStep would be greeted by a view of a forest planet- nearly every mile of its landmass was covered in green, as far as one could tell from orbit. Adorning the irregularly-shaped continents were faint, circular designs similar to the ring-shaped patterns on Cybertron’s surface, worn with age and broken in places by the shifting of tectonic plates. These rings, and the cyberglyphs accompanying them, glow with a dark green aura, the same shade as the lights which had begun to gently flicker all throughout Salvation. Among the glyphs on the planet below was the divine light symbol

Glancing out the viewports, he observed the planet.
“Pretty place.” He said aloud.

“I would like that, yes,” Venture replies.

In Engineering, SideStep could find Greasemonkey and Topside standing beside the transwarp drive. Engineers were bust tending to the gargantuan machinery filling the cavern.
