I used to be indifferent to Kongu, but after seeing your interpretation (baboon proportions, tough military-guy from MNOG), I now understand and can come to appreciate the design choices that went into the making this set.
Also, Greg answered why Kongu has two Cordak Blasters on the good 'ol 2007 Terrain Crawler website

I never had a problem with Kongu lacking a close range weapon. I mean who needs a sword when you have DUEL FREAKING MISSILE LAUNCHING MINIGUNS!
