Sounds more like a tour guide at a national park.
Itâs closer to what 777 said. I talk with people about the site that I work at, though itâs a bit different from being a âtour guideâ.
Iâve developed an obsession with building ziggurats.
Okay, it is bad that I enjoy learning about, and almost know more about Ancient Rome than my own country?
I wouldnât say itâs bad, since Ancient Rome is quite fascinating. Itâs actually climbing up as one of my favorite historical eras to learn about.
Thereâs also the added plus that people compare the US to Rome a lot.
Ugh, everytime I post a comment on a video about Rome, some guy comes and says âHuns beat Romans you suck XDâ Then I reply with âNo, the Romans beat the Huns. Look at the battle of Chalonsâ Then they repeat the first comment.
Ivâe begun to avoid YouTube when looking for historical discussion.

So this coming semester, Iâm taking a course all about Thucydides.
I am hype
Bah. Herodotus was better.
dude fight me
Nah but seriously, what makes you like Herodotus better? Thucydides doesnât have all that mythology junk.
Because Herodotus has all that mythology junk
but what about when you want actual history, not an account of Zeusâ love life?
Then I go to Thucydides
I enjoy Herodotus because, as he prefaces, he is recording the stories people told him. Now, I know he got the order of the Pharaohâs completely wrong, but I was quite entertained. I didnât read it expecting actual history until I got to the more contemporary accounts.
Alright, fair enough.
Still excited for Thucydides though
âA collision at sea can ruin your entire dayâ
-Thucydides
best quote ever.
Iâm now taking US History in college.
Itâs looking to be an interesting course. I might be returning here shortly
Come back when you get to Davy Crockett.
Grant me mercy, oh 403!
Oooh, a history topic! I love history. Unlike most people, I research it for fun, most of my research focusing on the ancient world and Rome.
Rome is corrupt and shall fall
