As I've said the jegan is a solid first mg. Really I'd say just stay away from transforming suits at the beginning since they usually have smaller parts for transformation.
I agree with Khalsa, stay away from transforming suits. Generally though, MGs shouldn't be too hard. They just have a lot more to deal with.
Also depending on the model a hobby screwdriver could be good to have. I think it's extremely rare but the mg speigel Gundam uses screws on some of its joints. Not a big deal but it's handy.
@meepinater this too! RX-78-2 2.0 has screws in the legs, and the 2.0 Gelgoog has one in its hand.
