Now, everyone said Californie
Is the place that you oughta be.
We got to load up this here truck now;
We got to move to Beverly–
Hills, that is.
Weird Al’s done it again
I just don’t have enough favorite bands to make a list.
Well, you could list solo artists or composers instead. I’m not very picky about the definition of “band.”

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness
At least right now, but my top ten are usually pretty steady.
I should’ve put U2 in my list. And kudos for including their 90s music; it tends to get overlooked, which is a shame.
Okay, I guess I’ve seen this topic around long enough
and I’ve sorta been able to let my opinions settle
that I think I’m ready to do this
My own, in no real order, other than how easy they come to the front of my mind, goes:
The Cat Empire
Bowling For Soup
Semisonic
Styx
Psychic Lover
Tyr
Finley
Steam Powered Giraffe
Abney Park
The Fold
Skyhill
I think that was 11
but I really like all those bands
so y’know
whatevs.

So, my music tastes have changed a bit. I don’t even like a few of the artists on my previous list anymore. (Also, a few of those were just throwaway bands I put when I couldn’t think of anything else.) Currently, my ten are:
-Jethro Tull
-King Crimson
-the Clash
-Deep Purple
-Yes
-Genesis (early)
-Frank Zappa, with and without Mothers of Invention
-Captain Beefheart
-Rush
-The Who
I still like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and CCR, but I don’t listen to them nearly as much anymore.
- U2
- Coldplay
- Oasis
- Rolling Stones
- ACDC
- Journey
- Queen
- 2Cellos
- Collective Soul
- Guns ‘n’ Roses
U2 is a definite 1st, the others can get switched around a bit, depending on my mood.
- System of a Down
- RHCP
- London’s Orchestra
- Korn
- Breaking Benjamin
- Skillet
- Nirvana
- Cryoshell
- Linkin Park
- Limp Bizkit
Too bad Soundtrack doesn’t have specific bands tho. The list would be way longer.
Linkin Park
Gorillaz
Red hot chili peppers
No Doubt
Nirvana
Offspring
Green Day
Three Days Grace
Queen
Breaking Benjamin
Twenty One Pilots
Hillsong
Imagine Dragons
Linkin Park
Fall Out Boy
Casey Lee Williams
Jeff Williams
Switchfoot
Cryoshell
One Republic
I usually only think of my top 5. Everything else that would fit in the five after that becomes a scattered mess of “really good bands but not my favorites.”
Not really in order:
- New Order
- The Police
- Metallica
- Genesis
- Rush
Interestingly enough, they all released pretty good albums in 1983. These 5 seem to represent the genres I like very well: electronic, heavy metal, progressive rock, post punk, and also old music. : P
The other five that might fall in the top 10… The Clash, The Prodigy, Pink Floyd, Daft Punk and The Strokes.
Any man who is able to list both of these bands as favorites has my respect.
Tool
The Mars Volta
Primus
Symphony X
Scanning Antarctica
Dream Theater
The Sword
Gojira
Alestorm
A Perfect Circle
No particular order:
Black Eyed Peas
Coheed and Cambria
Evanescence
There for Tomorrow
Gorillaz
Linkin Park
Trocadero
Crush 40
Smash Mouth (Forgive Me)
Cryoshell
