Thanks for the info.
Strange my computer renders on âvery highâ quality in about 10 minutes. It really just depends on what your computer can handle.
Yes.
Just yes.
I have spoken.
Well, looks like Artakha to me.
Very nice. I wasnât sure about entering into this contest but since Marendar is going to be a while I guess it wouldnât hurt to try. Plus I am pretty well acquainted with studio. But it sure will not come out as great as this one.
[Full Disclosure]
This MOC was designed fully in Stud.io, and as such I decided not to place too great a focus on stability and joint strength, due to how difficult designing such assemblies digitally can be.
If anyone decides to build this MOC IRL, it wil almost certainlyl require modifications to pose stably. ankles, knees, hips, and shoulders are all single ball joint connections. All of which except for the shoulders could be strengthened with friction adders at the price of aesthetics.
Hypothetically It should not be difficult to add stability armatures from the shoulders to the torso to strengthen shoulder articulation, and to add pistons to the knees.
If I had access to physical pieces to stress test articulation and stability I would have not settled for this, however that is unfortunately not the case. Iâm very sorry if this sours anyoneâs opinion on the MOC, I assume most already would have noticed the weak joints, (and anticipated comments on it) however I probably should have clearly stated this sooner.
In the future I would like to create an âIRL articulation modâ and share the designs publicly. However I likely wont have the means to do so until this contest ends.
If someone told me this was an official Artakha set that was scraped and never released Iâd believe it.
Since you have provided the Stud.io file for this, I am putting this in Blender and rigging the guy so that he can pose more (with additional improvements in materials).
Gonna have a lot of fun with this.
Awesome MOC also.
This is probably my favourite entry so far. The physique isnât quite as top-heavy as I had imagine him, but itâs not too far off either and still works well. The armor design looks appropriately ornate, especially around the chest. I know this isnât over yet, but I wouldnât be surprised to see it win, and wouldnât be disappointed either.
Heck, I would be disappointed if this didnât make at least top 3.
Neat!
Question @MaskMaker,
How exactly does one export Stud.io models into Blender?
Export the file from stud.io as a .dae (collada) file and then import the .dae file into Blender.
Thanks!
Apparently, they take at least a day on mine.
I like this one a lot, good idea using metru torsos on the limbs.
Yeah, this build really does a good job with its majestic-yet-intimidating stature.
