Baterra Prototype

An experimental unit designed to push the limits of great being robotics. It improves significantly on the baterra design, eliminating the stealth technology in favor of re-configuring weapon systems. Rather then relying on ambush or invisibility, the prototype uses advanced combat routines copied from the brainwaves of another Great Being project.

Originally this was going to be more of a recolor, but the design wouldn’t work like it did on the orange MK2 designs. The MK2 are hulking brutes, this thing is kind of an in between from the more comic accurate designs and the combat model.

It has a variety of nasty weapons, that can interchange with the claw arms.

I want to build a set of retracted axe blades, and some sort of buzzsaw weapons too.

Instead of the head-bobbing gimmick of the Bohrok or my MK2 Moc, this one has a functioning gearbox embedded in the frame.

Its eyes also glow in the dark, since stealth is out the window at this point.

I like the subtle differences between this one and MK2! It took me a second to see them, but they work very well. The claws in particular are great, and I like how they look more like the claws of an ordinary Baterra than those of MK2. I do like the torso on MK1 substantially more; MK2’s is by no means bad, but I personally prefer the techniques and parts usage of MK1. The color scheme is good, and I appreciate how your use of the glow-in-the-dark Bohrok eyes mirrors their usage in your Marendar.

I love the axe-head flails; they feel so unique!
(I have no idea what their technical name is, so I’m going to leave it at that.)

It’s an in-between model, but… it’s also really similar to the other Baterra model you made to the degree that its silhouette and stature are nearly identical. I know the interior is different, but externally there’s not much to tell this apart from the other version than the color palette and a couple torso pieces.

The additional weapons are quite nice, however. Big fan of the dual gatling gun hands (Kongu would approve).

I like the axes on chains. Would be super impractical, yes, but also really cool.

@Ghid Yeah it’s hard to see how different the torso is. The design is rather intricate, the gear mechanism runs through the entire thing, and all the individual parts are fastened down really well. But it ends up with a nearly identical look from most angles.

Thanks everyone! Yeah the axe-flails are one of my favorite bits here, they look incredibly mean. It’s a machine, so it could arguably wield them effectively. Bionicle as a whole struggles with functional looking weapons, my favorite are all the shields with giant, weapon sized holes in them.
