Best Of LEGO Bootlegs

I came across this guy on Brickshelf. I find it very intriguing:

At first I thought it’s just a MOC, but many of the parts never existed in these colors (Kraahkan in silver or double socket connectors in orange) and the pieces that make up the torso are unlike anything Lego ever made (just realized that it looks like a copy of a Mega Bloks Gyro Fighters torso mold). Now I’m curious to know who made this and what it’s called, but I can’t find anything about it. Only info is that it’s from 2009 or earlier and that it was apparently sold in Vietnam.

Here’s the original folder, with two more photos: Brickshelf Gallery - This is a bionicle i bought in vietnam

For a bootleg, this ones pretty neat!

New outer space set just leaked; it’s an interesting departure at least.

Jokes aside though the red detailing on the not tie interceptor actually doesn’t look bad.

That reminds me of this:

It’s an actual TIE Interceptor variant, and it’s interesting seeing a bootleg set actually get close to a real design!

There’s a chance you’ve seen this photo of a derpy bootleg Suletu before. I’ve been meaning to find out where it comes from (i.e. which brand made it), and my first thought went towards…

Our good friends over at Bela (sometimes also known as “Wit Toys” or “Lari”), makers of Invincibility Robot. I can’t find a photo of Kongu out of the can, but I did find photos of Invincibility Robot Jaller and Hewkii:

They don’t look that bad, actually. Sure, Jaller’s mask color is off and he’s missing the mouth, but otherwise they still look pretty decent - better than the Suletu at least.
I won’t entirely rule out Invincibility Robot though - Bela’s quality is notorious for being a hit or miss game, so it’s still possible that the Suletu was made by them.

Another option would be the Star Soldier line by Decool (also known as “Digo” or “Decoo”). I couldn’t find photos of any built Inika out of their can, though. In fact, this is the only photo I can find about Star Soldier Inika figures, so who knows - maybe they were never even made?
Forget that, they exist! I even found a pic of Kongu’s contents, you can’t see the mask though. I’ll continue searching.

There’s also the “Aliens” line by Gorod Masterov, you’ve probably heard of them before. Despite the edited box art, these are just standard bootleg Inika figures, as far as I know they’re repackaged Bela sets. From what I can gather, they never released a Kongu though.

Do you have any clues where the Suletu might be from?

So it’s better than the original?

Also, this mask looks awesome:

Does it actually exist, or is this just a case of the bootlegs embellishing the set on the packaging?

No, that’s an edited picture. The actual set comes with a regular Sanok (a shame really, I agree that the edit looks pretty cool).

I dug up these old Bionicle bootlegs I got in 2008 when I first moved to Korea. They’re straight up replicating the 2003 Matoran Maku and Hafu but with little speeders made from Bohrok parts, as if they were cobbled from the leftovers of destroyed Bohrok in fiction or IRL.

They have minor color discrepancies like the heads the same color as the body, dark grey axles, red frictionless pins, and dark bluish grey hands.

Can’t find photos of the them online but I know the packaging had them in an Ignika-style street urban setting and there were all six of the matoran and paired Bohrok speeders.

Interesting! These are surprisingly good speeder builds for a bootleg.

The mask on the first one is actually pretty cool looking

Ooo those are pretty cool! I love how they’ve done some creative stuff with the 1.0 body.
That said, who knows what’s actually in the can, this brand is known for misleading box images.

Those Bohrok speeders actually kinda rule.

Ngl, those 1.0 bootlegs are amazing. The guns especially are really good. They do a good job of meshing the Breakout guns with the 1.0 designs.

@KRBrickBot found them! Those sets are from the “Exploiter Moto” line by Digo (aka Decool). That’s the company who made the Star Soldier line.

There was also an alternate version in Mahri canisters:

And the bikes were also sold without riders:

I found all of these on a wholesale website full of old Lego bootlegs, here’s some other interesting stuff.

I love these two, I think the designs are pretty good. Might want to try building one or both.

Bikes with Roborider wheels. I think those wheels work well for the “thin Bicycle tire” look.

Speaking of Roboriders, here’s the whole line bootlegged. I find these pretty interesting because I’ve never seen Roboriders being copied before. Now to find some Slizer bootlegs!

Everyone’s favorite Overlord gang

They also have a bunch of small Technic models in Bionicle-style cans. Cool idea if you ask me!

Angular cardboard boxes, there’s also Bohrok Kal in this packaging style. Were they already foreshadowing G2 boxes?

Those Rakhshi need something to bulk up their muscles!

Though for the most part I’m a purist when it comes to Lego, even I have to admit these are pretty cool. For the bikes and those two larger figures, they look like they actually spent some time designing them. What’s actually in the box is another question, though.

Well… I should’ve just paid closer attention to the previous photos in this thread before posting about the bootleg Suletu.

There it is! The trans limbs are a defining feature of Bela Invincibility Robots, almost all of their sets have trans sockets for whatever reason. Mystery solved.

The Trans-Green ones on Kongu look sweet.

Part of me wishes those were official sets, some of them look cool
