I had forgotten about this little dude but when I was unpacking my bag I found this venom I got as well. I think he might be my new prefered venom minifigure.
That’s actually a really good design for larger minifigures. Surprisingly good quality for a bootleg! The removeable tongue is also a neat touch, I can see why he’s your preferred Venom now.
Or even just take away the ball joints and unretire the nexoknights clay peice. If they just made a not armor version of that peice it’d be great for so many characters to not be too big but still be bigger then normal mini figs.
I found these linked in a FB chat group recently.
These aren’t direct copies of any specific Lego sets, (Although, the “Forest Guarder” figure does look a lot like how TLG would make a modern take on Treebeard from LOTR.) but, they look nice!
These things are sick! They’re on-par with some of the best LoTR MOCs I’ve seen, unlike a lot of bootlegs. I especially like the underworld rider, it looks amazing as a display yet also moves around like a Bionicle figure.
Shameless ripoffs of existing sets are one thing, but these look like legitimately fun sets to have. With Lego’s prices going up and their quality going down, I almost wonder if there’s some room in the market for real competition.
Me too!
I guess, we’ll wait and see, how TLG will handle quality in the future. (I hope that it will improve somewhat & somehow, though.)
If it continues to fall even more, it won’t be long before one of their rivals steps up to seize the opportunity.
If it may result in more sets like these with more affordable price tags, I will not complain TBH.
Same here!
(Me, as I realize that we’ll probably never get these in official sets:)
Yes!
My only nitpick would be its head, which is a bit derpy, but I could live with it.
That box is sending me. The fact that they used plastic for a shell on the package just like some later Bionicle sets is just…it feels weird in a way I can’t describe.
These sets are really throwing me for a loop. I can’t find anything about this “Qiao” brand, did they ever make any other sets? If not, why did they specifically choose the Vahki? Why are they called “Kavass” of all things? Who at niveldigital built and posed them for the photos?
