I am obsessed with Statistics and I am a big fan of Bionicle, so it only makes sense that I combine my love of both. Here’s a look at Bionicle by the Numbers.
Most Sets: 2008 (29)
Most Expensive: 2008 (553)
Most Parts: 2005 (3883)
I tried to be as accurate as possible with this list taking information from multiple sources, mainly Bricklink, Brickset, and the Lego Wiki.
I own every set, and they are all built, and it is amazing to me how much the cost was when you add all of the years up. $4103 + tax. And I had to pay more for some sets that I bought off of eBay. I started collecting in 2004, so I had to buy the older ones online. And 266 sets so far, wow. I give a lot of credit to Lego.
Apparently. A bunch of small purchases keep adding up over time. It was spread out over 10 years or so though. I don’t know how I afforded the sets as a kid, but I have a job now, so money isn’t as big of an issue. Most of the system playsets as well as the 2001-2003 sets I only recently purchased about a year ago on eBay. It got to a point where I had like 85% of the sets, so I might as well have competed the collection. I never read the novels as a kid, but I recently collected all of those too, and I am currently in the process of reading them.
Now that we have details for the 2016 summer sets, I’ve updated some of the stats:
2016
Sets: 17
Price: 265
Parts: 1924
Totals
Sets: 271
Price: 4188
Parts: 29828
Price/Part: 0.14
Price/Set: 15.45
Parts/Set: 110.10
And once summer rolls around, I’ll definitely be picking up the new sets. I also want to to post pictures of my collection on the collection topic soon, so if you are interested, keep your eyes open.
