As we saw with the Nui Kopen, it can be difficult to keep track of what’s being said or disproven. Stuff like the Tuyet canon information post is a good way to keep track of known details but for discussion of details, we should try a similar structure to a debate. Each side makes their points and any future posts repeating these points with no changes or new insight are deleted by Mods. This would solve the circular arguments and encourage people to try and look for new quotes or info that might help support their side.
Now a post summing up the arguments is allowed since it’s a good way to inform people who’re not caught up yet.
This is the only thing I can come up with that would remotely solve the issue but it’s not a pretty solution.
TBH I’m at the point where I usually just pop in and scroll to the bottom to clear my notifications on new posts, if there’s too many posts I just don’t read. I wouldn’t have said anything myself if an actual rule hadn’t been made because, normally, literally nothing happens in this thread, even when something’s happening. I still don’t know what the TYQ weapons debacle was over or why TTV even bothered to ask Greg about weapons.
To sum it up: Greg told them the weapons to the question “Did they all carry weapons”, people got mad since they didn’t think the contest needed restrictions on the weapons and to be more careful with what they ask Greg in the future.
They also were mad that TTV missed a quote which basically said they all carried weapons, so there was no reason to ask.
Another group was mad that their weapons they built for the MOCs had to be changed because of the new quote.
Finally someone was mad at TTV and said they had a better chance of getting an answer than other members of the forum.
In the end, my view was TTV wasn’t in the wrong as they never asked what the weapons were, though they did miss a quote. Also we caused the situation of Greg being more willing to answer questions from TTV by going nuclear every time he revealed something new.
I hope the Mods agree, as I’m not sure what I’d replace them with.
In the interest of moving the discussion away from the BB for at least ten posts…
What are people’s thoughts on having an artwork group shot contest for the TYQ team? Unlike the Hagah, this would be separate from the individual contests: it would be run once all three of them have canon artwork, and it would be a group shot of them (and possibly Gelu).
It should be really simple, since we would already know what all four characters look like, so it could make a nice break before the next complicated contest (Nidhiki).
I’d like a group shot. I’ve suggested before that it could be part of Chiara’s contest, since she has a predetermined mask and is the last of the bunch.
A separate art contest could be easier though. However I doubt many people would enter.
What’s the purpose if it doesn’t really decide any canon appearances? It’ll have minimal participation and serve only to give us some wallpapers…actually, I could use a new one, nevermind, give me like 40 group shots of every Bionicle character in one place.
The hilt-facing barbs are a requirement for art, not MOC.
Blades =/= barbs.
Not a MOC rule. Only the art needs to depict the sword as the author has described it.
We’ve gotten to the point where this conversation has gone on for long enough that people are lacking an understanding of the original post that spawned this discussion, as well as not understanding the details of the conversation. No new arguments have been presented, and current arguments have no canon basis for altering the mandate for the barbs on the Sword in art entries.
As of now, the mandate will not change, and final wording will be released as we get closer to the beginning of the contest. We still do not have an ETA for the start of it.
Alright, this argument seems just about wrapped up. I’d like to move on to the next contest on our agenda. If someone could look for few Greg quotes that contradict themselves regarding the character’s appearance, we can start to build some opposing arguments from there. I’m expecting TTV cast to get involved, too, because a mandate needs to be chosen from one of those conflicting quotes and frankly I don’t care what rationale is used as long as people fail to read it correctly and get mad about it. If we do this quick enough we might be able to have arguments for the next five canon contests before Tuyet even starts.
A MOCist could enter any sword, but if the sword doesn’t match the description then it would be switched out by the artist. If it does match, then we get into the discussion of whether a consent system will be in play. That system worked out very well and was popular, so we’ll probably include that as well. Nothing is certain yet, though, so we’ll keep everyone posted.
It’s most likely that Eljay accidentally just hit the Reply button on your post instead of the one at the bottom of the topic, and then Keplers made his post while Eljay was still typing.
Here’s a quote I found while researching: “Is Orde really Marendar in disguise?
No. Marendar does not use disguises. I didn’t see the point in having to do that since it would make him too much like the baterra.”Official Greg Quotes | Page 1
Not sure why Orde was the one they chose, since Zaria is the more obvious killer.
Back to read
Maybe because of his mental powers, knowing things that he couldn’t know unless he was either a) psychic, or b) a mechine designed to learn things and kill Toa.
EDIT: No wait, it was probably because Orde doesn’t follow the gender rule for his Element.
Sorry of I’m late to the Tuyet Party but is it ever described as the Barbed Broadsword having a serrated edge on both sides as well as barbs OR serrated on one side and having barbs on the other?
