BIONICLE Headcanons

This is a cool idea. There might be some detail in official canon right now preventing it from happening, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to come up with an explanation.

Not only does this give Lehvak-Kal a bit more “oomph”, but it also plays on the existing connection between the Bohrok and the Baterra.

It would also be really awesome to see Lewa’s connection to the Bohrok Swarm become relevant again, and you make a great point about his Air power countering Lehvak-Kal’s Vacuum.

Finally, this whole interaction wouldn’t be too hard to set up because, at the current point in the story, Lewa is kind of off on his own adventure already anyways.

Lehvak Kal fell to the bota magna and found some baterra there? There should be at least a few in bota magna right? Also if all inhabitants abandoned technology maybe they aso abandoned things baterra would consider a weapon.

Edit: though Levahk kall was orbiting Aqua magna so it could be that he would most likely fall to ocean :stuck_out_tongue:

edit: ok ok the shard that hit Teridax was from botamagna right? so I could that when teridax flew from aqua magna his body bypassed lehvak kal (who sohlud be around above him anyway) it pushed him towards sperushmagna, and he wrrived around the time when planets combined and he ended up on bota magna. propably uuuuutterly confused on what is going on.

This had been depicted multiple different ways, and I don’t believe there was ever an explicit explanation of which one is correct.

Ultimately, I don’t think it really matters exactly what piece hit Teridax, or how close he was to Lehvak-Kal; I’m pretty sure the reunification of Spherus Magna is enough of an explanation for Lehvak-Kal’s orbit to deteriorate and bring it to the surface.

Greg said it was canonically an Aqua Magna moon fragment: Official Greg Dialogue | Page 301

That’s just someone else assuming it was Aqua Magna; I’m pretty sure that Greg’s answer had more to do with confirming that Teridax is dead, rather than the specifics of how he died.

I based my previous statement on this discussion from just a couple weeks after the quote you posted in which Greg stated that he doesn’t really care to specify the exact nature of the fragment:

  1. Since the fragment that crashed Teridax’s head was confirmed by the MNS saga as Bota Magna while the comic doesn’t state which planet the fragment came from, that confirms that a Bota Magna frament, not an Aqua Magna, fragemnt hit Teridax’s head, right?
  1. But I believe in the comic the fragment is colored blue, which is why people assumed it was Aqua Magna. Personally, I would simply say he was struck by an astral body - -which one it was is completely irrelevant to the story, really. If I pick up a rock and hit you with it, does it really matter WHICH rock it was?
  1. Well, it would clarify which source (MNS or comic) was accurate.
  1. Again, basically irrelevant. Two artistic interpretations of the same event, one where the fragment was blue, one where it was green, that’s basically it.

No, it’s not. Both the question and the answer are about HOW Teridax died.

Let’s clear up the confusion.

???: Teridax is planned to be killed off by Bota Magna, and both JE and MNS are written to reflect this. However, the Comic artist doesn’t get the memo, and draws a blue rock instead of a green planet.
March ?: Comic 7 is released, showing a blue rock killing Terry
March 6th: Greg states that it was a fragment.
April 14: Sahmad’s Tale chapter 3 is released, which describes Teridax being killed by a fragment (doesn’t specify which moon).
April 15: Mata Nui Saga chapter 30 is released, showing Bota Magna
April 15: Greg says he went with a Fragment because it didn’t make sense for it to be an entire moon with the death shown in the comic
April 17th: Greg confirms that it was a fragment of Aqua Magna
April 21st: Journey’s End is released, describing the death as happening from Bota Magna
April 21st: Greg states that it was originally intended to be Bota Magna, but the colorist decided to make it blue.
April 26/28: When asked if it was a fragment of Bota Magna, he says “it doesn’t matter”.

So to sum up: it was intended to be Bota Magna, and is described as such in JE and MNS. Then the comic comes out, and people are confused, and Greg decides to make it a fragment instead. When asked for clarification, he states that yes, it is canonically a fragment of Aqua Magna. He clarifies that it was originally meant to be Bota Magna, but the comic artist made it blue. However, a week later, he gives the “it doesn’t really matter” answer.

I don’t think he cared that much how Terry died, just that he died. When asked “is it canonically a fragment of Aqua Magna”, he said yes. However, when people continued to ask about it, he said it doesn’t really matter.

So the canon answer is “A fragment of Aqua Magna killed him”.

I got a couple new ones, pretty minor this time:

-An Oohnorak mimicking someone’s voice sounds like an old text-to-speech bot of the caliber used for Reviving Bionicle, and similarly struggles with correctly pronouncing proper nouns.

-Though Vahki didn’t usually speak and communicated with each other only in sped-up and pitched-up Matoran, they were also capable of reciting half a dozen quasi-authoritarian phrases (“surrender for your own good”, “a busy Matoran is a happy Matoran”, etc.) in Turaga Dume’s voice whenever they deemed it appropriate, like walking propaganda posters. Dume provided recordings of himself for the manufacturers on the theory that if Matoran heard their trusted Turaga’s voice, they’d be more inclined to listen. As it turns out, hearing the voice of your city’s leader coming out of a nightmarish mechanical order enforcer is more unnerving than anything, so after a while the Vahki stopped doing it.

Artakha used the Toa Mata’s original masks to be turned into their Nuva variants. He may also be planning to replace Tahu’s lost masks with Great variants.

The psionic toa nova blast is invisible.

It travels through the land silently untill it hits living beings. Their eyes glow brightly untill the brain is fully fried and they fall to the ground.

Further away from the explosion, less the damage. Further away beings would get hedeaches.

Psionic nova blast also travels further distance since it is weightless.

Beings protected from psionics like the order and matoran would not be able to resist it from point plank range.

They probably weren’t, but I like to believe that the Piraka head designs were partially inspired by the Tikki sculptures and totems.
They share some similar aspects, like the boxy head shapes and the wide mouths with huge teeth:

Wouldn’t surprise me. They do look pretty similar and who knows, maybe Lego was thinking of doing a more tropical setting again.

The first time Bionicle tried to take inspiration from a “tropical” island culture, it ended in a lawsuit and a completely new approach to how they designed and named characters. I doubt that this was an intentional design cue.

It was a lawsuit over the usage of the word “tohunga” specifically. The “tropical island setting” wasn’t the issue, just the fact that tohunga, an honorific from the Māori language, was being used in a somewhat inverted sense (since the Matoran aren’t usually presented in a way that shows them as elders in any sense).

While “Tohunga” was the biggest issue, a number of names were respelled as well.

I’m aware that the setting wasn’t the problem, but rather the fact that words and concepts were being taken from another culture; this is exactly what is being discussed here with the totems. After the controversy with the Māori, Lego took a very deliberate stance to make sure it wasn’t repeated.

Gali shares the same body type as Onua, who wears the mask of strength:

  • They both have broad shoulders (as opposed to narrow shoulders like Kopaka and Lewa)
  • They both are the only Toa Mata with dual weapon arms (part x240)
  • They both are the only Toa Mata with inverted legs

This implies that Gali is canonically a muscle mommy.

Wait so does this mean that Takanuva who’s closest to Gali Nuva is actually jacked?

If you rearrange the letters of Velika, you get Evil…ka.

Greg, you are a genius.

For years now, I’ve headcanoned Kopaka as left-handed. I even always make sure I rebuild both his Mata and Nuva sets accordingly whenever I’ve got them taken apart.
