A memorable part of BIONICLE Gen 1 for many was the music throughout the years. MNOG and MNOG2 had good soundtracks, and of course Cryoshell’s music really pushed the darker theme in the later years of BIONICLE. What do you expect in terms of music for Gen 2? A more tribal tone like the beginning of Gen 1, or perhaps something different?

I think the theme we have now may continue for the entire run.

There is an extreme shortage of music tracks in Bionicle currently.
Most of the tracks are just remixes of the standard Bionicle 2015 theme.
The only two that aren’t a remix is the track that plays whenever something dark, dangerous, bad, or spooky happens and the Game music.
How is it that 2001 had so much more music than 2015?

I hope we get more music too. Honestly, a little bit of the MNOG style of music would help. Tribal but robotic, chanting with electronic. It was a perfect choice, and seeing as they’re going even further with the tribal theme in Gen 2, it’d be a good match.

I mean, 2001 had a huge, open world sorta game, it’d need a lot of music.

Okoto could use a game to develop setting. The current animations, book, and game don’t seem to do much in terms of setting, but that’s getting off topic.

Probably, although if the game was only to contribute to world building, we wouldn’t need it, because the upcoming graphic novel is allegedaly all about world building.
There’s only so much a graphic novel can do though, the best medium for world-building is either a show or interactive experience designed around exploration. Obviously the show isn’t focused on world-building.

I’d love to see some more Cryoshell, but I feel like Gen 2’s story isn’t really going in that direction. Hopefully in a few years it’ll get darker and we can get some Cryoshell.

I’d like to see a darker Bionicle later on, as well. But until then, I’d like to see Gen 2 have music that associates directly to the fact that they are heroes from another land, transformed to fight a new evil. “E For Extinction” by Thousand Foot Crutch, or “Ghosts in the Code” by Aviator.

Well, we have the main theme, and the spooky organ music. I like both of those. I’m okay with them.

I like them too, I just wish there was more variance. Plus the a remix of the 2001 MNOG music would be both fitting and cool.

Yeah, original and memorable themes. The current theme is, for lack of a better term, kinda forgettable.

I always thought Makuta’s theme felt like a discount version of that.
They’re a bit different, but very similar

It totally does, though honestly Makuta in the Mask of Life movie is a pretty bad depiction of him. His City of Legends portrayal (and obviously his portrayal in the books) is much more fitting, and in the case of City of Legends his music is better as well.

I really liked the sound design in Journey to One. It wasn’t really what I was expecting, and I hope they build upon it in the future.
