Botar's... clone?

Also one thing Brutaka has over Botar.
Olmek makes portals. Brutaka just teleports. This means Olmek has much much more utility, Brutaka can basically warp entire squads of people around while Botar just zips around with whatever he can grab to.

Wow, that’s creative. Botar is not an individual, Botar is a race. Basically “I am Groot” moment. Regarding Axon - maybe he wasn’t privy. Who knows.

Yeah, I know. I’m talking about a hypothetical rewrite of canon where it actually is the same guy, just with no memories of his past.

The canon version of the story that introduces Botar’s Replacement has been criticized for killing off Botar and replacing him with a basically-identical character. This hypothetical alternate version of canon would face the opposite criticism, for bringing Botar back but making him a basically-different character.

I don’t think Brutaka ever had aspirations to rule the universe. Axonn certainly had some desire to, as he canonically went conquering some of the smaller southern islands after the Hand of Artakha disbanded.

Brutaka’s primary objective during 2006 was simply to side with whoever he could use. He also wanted the mask of life for himself, but he never seemed to pursue that goal too strongly.

Very unlikely. Axonn was exceptionally smart, being one of the founding members of the Hand of Artakha, and he would most certainly notice the slightest difference between Botar and an imposter. It would need to be an exact duplicate to not arouse his suspicions and prompt his finding out using the mask of truth.

The more realistic solution is to make Botar’s replacement a different character. Same species, same golden armor, but where Botar was extremely effective and saw the rest of the universe as fairly beneath him and the OoMN, perhaps the replacement could be inefficient, make mistakes, fly off the handle, or even be intimidated by the other powers that be. Someone who might at first be confused for the first Botar, but who would immediately oust himself the minute he opened his mouth.

In other words, someone the OoMN would not have bothered to recruit before the loss of Botar.

Imagine looking at the terrifying, jagid maw of Botar, and then he opens his mouth and he’s like “Hey, I’m Botar’s Replacement. Where do I put my bag? Also, I think I messed up clocking into work, could you help me? It’s my first day.”

“Teleporting people? Are you sure that’s okay? I mean, I’m pretty sure you need papers to get into Metru Nui. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to bypass customs like that. Say, does anyone here happen to know where Jerbraz went? I was hoping to meet him but I can’t see him anywhere.”

“Tuyet, huh? Sounds like a tough problem. Let me check the notes my predecessor left behind, then I’ll know what I’m up against…huh. Not sure what I was expecting, but is sure wasn’t that.”
