@Nyran Huh. I’m not really sure why that would be; it added a lot of world building, and continued the character arcs well. Actually, it was the first one I read, and is what got me to read all the others. I think Dragons is my favorite as well; I thought the dragons themselves were really neat characters, and the final book was indeed epic.
Goes into Artemis Fowl persona. Gladly.
XD
Is there an echo in here? (For the record, I thought the first one was fun, but the second one bored me out of my mind and I gave up.)
I’m actually on the second one. I do agree it lacks a lot of the pace, particularly because the only one really “doing” anything is Roran, and Eragon is basically just sitting around doing nothing.
I managed to finish it, so I won’t spoil it, but…yeah, the parts with Roran were the only ones I really liked. I was ok with Eragon sitting around for awhile, but eventually the author started using that storyline to throw in some of his own personal philosophizing that I didn’t agree with and thought was downright silly. I also got tired of it following the Star Wars movies plot point for plot point. So, YMMV (your mileage may vary) depending on how similar your perspective is to mine.
I have a love/hate relationship with country. I like some older stuff like Johnny Cash, but I can’t stand most of what gets played on country radio these days.
