As they dropped down and disappeared from the vans’ view as Gideon slowed them down, the officer who had issued the instructions over the PA system gaped in surprise, “They actually listened? Oh thank God…”
Once Iosif and Hayden arrived back at the station, they would be put in inhibiting cuffs and led to a holding cell which seemed to have the same power-dampening field as the mini cell in their respective vans. “Now, you two try not to kill each other this time.” The officer handling them grunted as he shoved them into the cell, locking the door behind them. Other than them, the cell seemed to only have one other occupant. He was a lanky young man with long dark hair, who was currently staring a hole into the floor.
The area was no Suicide Slum, but there were prettier parts of the city to be sure. A lot of older buildings were here, some small family-owned businesses that had fallen by the wayside. If Adelaide were to look around too, she would notice an out-of-place looking dive bar bearing the name “Oblivion”. If Gideon were to look in the same spot, he would only see the coffee shop and dry cleaner’s on either side.
The supports of the carriage buckled and crumbled, finally beginning to fall, and slipping all the way down the ice ramp until it was shoved into and stopped by the trail of snow. Civilians begin to step out - safe, albeit a little cold.
With the carriage busted enough to collapse the rest of the way on its own, the robot had leapt off and threw out one of its extending arms to the nearest building, grappling itself to the top and beginning to flee across the roof, springing this way and that to avoid the gunfire the SCU choppers were now employing as it was safely off the tracks.
“Sir, if you don’t leave I’m gonna call the police!” The woman shouted back, her patience already worn thin. This method didn’t seem to be getting Answer anywhere.
