The bartender blinks. He knew he should expect somebody to do that at least once, but it’s still a surprise after already dealing with the emotional rollercoaster that is Adelaide. The bouncer in the corner watches the newcomer unflinchingly.
That’s about all it took for Gideon to pay full attention to the winged man. He glanced about the bar for a No Smoking notice before feeling for his cigarettes.
“Light for a guy your size.” He mumbled in the man’s direction, not bothering to look up at him.
“I’ll save what I’ve got in case she’s interested.” He said, motioning to Lauren as he finally finds a cigarette. He looks over in time to see Edward perform his magic trick.
“Eh?” She glances his way. “I appreciate the offer, but I’ve got my own money, right here in my–purse.” She dashes across the room, suddenly remembering that she had left the purse back at the booth. Thankfully the bar wasn’t busy right now, otherwise who knew how many sticky fingers could have ran off with it. For all she knew someone had already stolen it form across the room.
The bartender nods, before looking over at the angel again as he hears him click his fingers, because that tends to attract attention. “Yeah… you’re paying for that.”
He leans on the bar, “You think you’re the first wiseguy to stroll in here and try to skimp on paying? The entire clientele of this bar knows what magic is, and I can tell you that the owner of this bar definitely knows what magic is. So unless you want to get thrown out, I want you to pay. For. That. Drink.”
“Hooboy…” The demon in the corner murmurs, ready to come over if things escalated any further.
He frowns. Looking down, he notices a feather has fallen out. He throws his head back, groaning, “Not letting me have any fun, are ya?” He grumbles to his wings, “How much for a shot of tequila, then?” He asks the bartender.
Lauren lets out a sigh of relief finding that her purse is still where she left it. She pulls it onto the table, rummaging around inside and making sure everything is in place. Thank goodness no one had touched it; that would have set her back months, maybe even a year. Being careless like that could lead to… who even knew what. She slings her purse over one shoulder, checking the time on her phone before slipping it back inside.
She reclaims her seat next to the others with a smile. “Sorry about that; would’ve been bad if I lost this.”
“It’s quite alright.” Gideon smiles. The smile was a tense one, previously unsure if the blue bouncer was about to start a brawl. “By the way, I didn’t catch your name.”
“Coming right up…” He murmurs, going and pouring it for him, handing him a new glass. This time with actual tequila. That he’s paying for. Or so help him, he’ll get Cassidy to tear him a new one.
