For example; Akamai is a fusion of Tahu, Onua and Pohatu, does he have the minds of all three controlling him, or is his mind seperate? does his mind only come into existance when the fusion is formed?

I always saw the Kaita as a new entity formed by the merging of the three. The alternative is you have three consciousnesses fighting for supremacy all the time.
