G1 Umarak combiner MOC

Having built the sets that I could have, I’ve decided to make MOCs using defined sets to make combiner models. To try it out I made a G1 interpretation of Umarak the hunter using Inika Kongu, Gorast, Chirox and turaga Matau;

I decided to go with a 2008 makuta build, making sure to find a way to get the matoran connector on his back. You can check the disassembly photos for how I did it, it’s pretty neat. Didn’t seem like an illegal connection either!

I’m working on a system MOC atm to get a rambly post out, for the next time I make a combiner I’m a bit dry on ideas (only ones so far are a more golden Toa Ekimu & some sorta G2 Po-matoran) so I’m open to suggestions.

Enjoy the janky maskless Umarak!

He’s actually not that bad. Looking at my copy of the set, I see every major feature - the crossbow, the horns, the shoulder pads, and the digitigrade legs! I also like that he can still have a Matoran on the back. It works for both the 08 and 16 combo functions.

From certain angles, he looks very messy and awkward, but hey, it’s a combiner model so not everything is going to be perfect.

Nice work with this one!

As the above comment said, you did a pretty good job at capturing the vague idea of a lot of Umarak’s defining features. It’s just too bad he doesn’t have a mask. Could the Shelek fit? Is it shallow enough to leave the eyestalk axle exposed?

Yeah true, I didn’t have much to work with so it is kind of a mess.

I’ve tried both available masks, neither allows for the antlers. I thought Matau’s mask would fit but it doesn’t.
