Kanohi Mask Rating

Now, in the world of Bionicle, there’ve been a lot of various Kanohi Masks of all shapes and sizes.

What I wanna know? Your favorite. Now, I don’t just mean something like “Oh the Hau is the best mask.” Nah man. I wanna know these things in particular.

Visual Aesthetics: Which mask just plain /looks/ the coolest. Include whether it’s great or noble, please. Color matters not, 'cause in story, any mask could be any color.

Powers: What mask has the best ability? What you think is like, most useful, what mask you’d wanna use.

Bearers: What mask do you think has the coolest bearer. Be it Toa or Makuta, Or whatever other species can wear Kanohi.

Overall: Maybe you like a mask for some reason not being in any of the categories. It doesn’t matter if it was or not. This is just your overall favorite mask just in general.

Finally, I wanna say that there are three masks I’d like to exclude from this. Vahi, Ignika, and the Mask of Creation. Them being Legendary, are simply too easy for the Powers category. Also, the Vahi has no real bearers on the long term. And the Creation Mask doesn’t even have a visual appearance.

My personal choices are as follows:

Visual Aesthetic: I personally think that the Great Kanohi Volitak looks really cool. Not sure why exactly, I just really dig it. But I digress.

Powers: Not gonna lie, Kualsi’s pretty legit. Mask of Quick Travel. Teleportation sure is awesome. A close second was the Pehuki, Mask of Diminishment.

Bearers: I think the Hau has some of the best bearers. I mean, Tahu aside, we have Lhikan and Jaller, both characters I’ve always liked a lot. Sorry if that’s kind of a generic answer, though.

Overall: The Kakama. Not in any of my previous categories because the other masks all accel in one category, but are kinda meh in others. Example: Volitak’s stealth powers are kinda meh, what with the Huna, and the Kualsi’s bearer, Iruni, wasn’t a character I was too into. But the Kakama has a cool enough look, some pretty great bearers, like Pohatu of course, and some Matoran characters I like, and Super Speed, while a step down from Teleportation, is still pretty legit.

I was wondering when something like this would turn up. Well, here we go.

Visual Aesthetic: I really like the Kraahkan. It just seems really cool with the two faces.

Powers: I like the Olmak a lot. it’s by far my favorite. Dimensional travel is something I’m REALLY interested in, and would jump at the chance to replace the version of myself in the DC Universe.

Bearers: Again, I gotta go with the Kraahkan. Teridax is just the coolest character. He’s just so awesome

Name: Yes, I’m adding a category. What are you going to do about it? Nothing? Okay, moving on, The Kraahkan is just a pretty cool name. Reminds me of the true name of the Black Cauldron from Lloyd Alexander’s “Prydain Chronicles.” Plus, Kraahkan just sounds evil. Like you’re spitting the name out.

Overall: The Kraahkan. It’s seriously just a great mask. It’s also one of the most iconic, probably just behind the Hau and Avohkii in terms of recognizability. (And yes, I just made up a word, you got a problem with that?

Visual Aesthetic Arthron - I like those bits at the top. They look like they have an actual purpose, but they’re just there to look cool.

Powers Tie between Olmak and Komau - Both of those powers are very good for different reasons, and I just feel that those reasons add up to a tie.

Bearers Volitak - Mostly because my favorite Toa is Nuparu, and my favorite Dark Hunter was Nidhiki.

Overall Kadin - It has a great power, my favorite Toa was the bearer, and it just looks pretty sweet.

BONUS - Least Favorite Overall Mask Zatth - The power is just worse than awful. Some would say it is terribad. I don’t really like how it looks, but the bearer (Kongu) is pretty decent.

Visual Aesthetic: Hau Mistika. I love how knightly this mask looks, although it don’t like it as a variation on the Hau.

Powers: Calix. A mask that lets me perform at the peak of physical capability? Yes please! Even though I hate he Inika Kanohi designs, I love the function of this mask.

Bearers: Tryna. This mask was one of the many burdens that Matoro had carried throughout his life. He had to wear a mask that most of his kind would view as immoral.

Overall: Arthron. I don’t no why, but I really like the Arthron. Even though it’s basically the same as the Elda, the Arthron was the cooler of the two for me. It always stood our among the Mahri Kanohi (Aside from the Garai) due to the shape and it’s two-tone colors.

Visual Aesthetic: Ignika (can that count?)

Visual Aesthetics: Garai, what other mask makes you look like a Samurai?

Powers: Mask of Emulation, I mean, it can copy other powers.

Bearers: Crast, I love Krika, plain and simple.

Overall: Noble Jutlin.

If you actually look at the mask, it looks like a ninja mask, or at least like a turban around the face without covering the eyes.

Oh, and that picture was made by my brother, BTW.

I think the turban aspect is why Ahkmou wears one because I’m pretty sure he’s supposed to be based off an Egyptian trader or something, what with the turban-like mask and how similar Ahkmou sounds to Achmed, a common arabic name.

My least favorite would probably be the Vahi. Not that I have anything really against it, but it was hyped up twice (early 2003 and 2004) as some mythical mask, and it did nothing. Just slowed down time slightly. It was a bit of a disappointment

It did lots of things. When almost broken, it could do bad, terrible things to the universe.

They only used the mask in order tom slow down time and over-charge the Bohrok-Kal with Toa Power, making most of them explode.

Aesthetics: Mask of Creation (AKA the display image mask which based off the masks description I can say for sure that it is the mask of creation)

Power: Matatu, Mask of creation, or Kualsi (I like them all equally)

Overall: the mask of creation (Artakha’s mask)

And like you established briefly, we have no idea if that Mask from the display is the Mask of Creation.

It could be like…The Mask of Pepsi Cola for all we know.
