I think after the bricklink designer set failing Bonk has a near zero chance of being the 90th anniversary set.
The most I could see is a small homage included in a more traditional (and more likely to sell well) Lego set

It’s been on my mind recently and when I saw some Lego space shuttle ad just now I immediately thought the worst. Sorry for causing a stir.
Knights’ Kingdom II is seeing somewhat of a revival. Now Danju’s purple helmet is super expensive and desirable thanks to the “snailien” cmf. Genuinely surprised it took so long for people to notice how good this theme is for rare colors. I hope the 90th anniversary set is a classic space set with a purple dude in it to bring the helmet price down. Something tells me it’ll be the five standard colored dudes though, but who knows, maybe they’ll surprise us.

My guess is either Castle or Classic Space…though if they somehow found a way to merge all four themes into one set, that would be lit.
Probably not surprisingly, I’m hoping for Bionicle

any day now, we’ll have an answer. I expect a set description or picture to show up in the next month or two.
EDIT: nvm the number is a GWP that goes with the set, but it’s still interesting regardless.

A Bionicle build will genuinely ruin my day as my Ideas GSR is at 7000 votes, TLG would then easily dismiss it as an unneeded product.

I wouldn’t be so sure. According to this article, no anniversary celebrations will start for at least three or four months:
Yeah, that would make sense. I could easily see Lego doing polybags of whatever three themes don’t get made into the set.

I’m fairly sure they were always planning to make a castle set to begin with and simply underestimated Bionicle in the first round.

That could explain why they split Castle into so many subsections to begin with, to figure out which “theme” of Castle is most popular.
I do also find it a little hard to believe that Lego would be intentionally manipulative to that degree, though.
