I already have Sapphire-Swan, as well as these two. If anything I want to do more male heroes. But also, I’d prefer to keep things limited for now in terms of this comic universe. I know the JLA has a ton of members, but it also has the benefit of 20 years of comics before that was made, and nowadays has 70 years of comics backing it. I am into I believe year 4 of making my stuff. Needless to say, I’m being realistic and sticking to a few characters for now.
It does me no good to just make more and more and more characters for the sake of more characters. I am actively writing and configuring these characters in the background, trying to make them work just as Emerald-Man does because I want to make series for them as well. Not just have them exist.
All I can say is: good things come to those who wait, and I am quite quick for someone working by myself in terms of indie comics. But I also am trying to be careful and meticulous of what I make, I want it to feel right to me rather than seeing what sticks and what doesn’t.
On this day 2055 years ago, Cleopatra VII Philopater, the last ruler of ancient Egypt, poisoned herself to avoid the prosecution of Augustus Caesar. I decided to make a piece on her based off contemporary artwork of her. She was hellenic, of the Ptolemy dynasty, hence her more greek appearance.
Yeah no those are all wrong. She was a greek woman, a descendant of Ptolomy, one of Alexander the Great’s generals who was installed in Egypt. They all go off a stereotype since she’s really the only Egyptian queen people talk about in the English language.
My brother drew a piece from the film The Ten Commandments and told me he wanted a companion piece, especially after seeing my cleopatra yesterday. So here is Anne Baxter as Nefertiri in the Ten Commandments.
I don’t remember if I’ve said this before, but Scarlet Star’s design is my favorite of your superheroes that I’ve seen. I’m not sure why particularly, maybe just the color blocking and the strong bust-'em-up à la Power Girl vibes, but she has a lot of personality even though I know nothing about her story.
