My Art Interpretation Of Artakha (Bionicle Canon Contest #2: Meet The Maker, Part 2 (Art))

Hello everyone. This was the part of the contest that I’ve been looking forward to, mainly because I already had an image idea in my head. The only thing to wait for is which build design won the first contest. I had lots of fun making this, and I truly hope that people enjoy it as well… [Artakha Art] So the artwork has a somewhat similar vibe to the official artwork of Karzahni, it even has a shadowy silhouette of him in the background. It also has the silhouette of the canisters in the background, which are of course in reference to the Toa Mata. I moved his cape up and over one shoulder, mainly because I just like that look in general. The runes all over his body are similar to that< in design anyways, to the rune look of the 2015 mask of creation. The same goes over to the mask i…

Artakha at the Forge (Meet the Maker) bionicle canon contest 2 art

Here’s my entry for the Artakha art contest Artakha forging a kanohi [image] For the runes on Artahka’s armor, I abstracted and simplified the runes from The G2 mask of creation into simple lines and came up with a few more of my own in that style. Overall, tried to keep the same color scheme and major forms as the winning model. Mask of Creation [image] For the mask of creation, I was inspired by tribal masks because of the tribal nature of cultures in the Matoran universe. So, instead of a crown, there is more of a headdress. I tried to incorporate forms from various armor parts and kanohi for the details on the mask. Hello! This is my submission for the Artakha contest! I tried to keep color scheme and proportions of the winner MOC, while adding my own details. First of all, he is based on Asian culture, more precisely, stone statues of dragons or Foo. This is especially noticeable with the Mask of Creation. Characters from the Matoran alphabet and self-made letters were used as runes (To indicate the extraordinary origin of Artakha, different from the Toa, Matoran and other inhabitants of the Matoran universe.) Artakha the Virtuous: (Meet the Maker) - Canon Contest Entry

This is my entry to the Artakha Contest. [image] The artwork was heavily inspired by Toby Dutkiewicz’s art for the Bionicle comics, more specifically his Karzahni piece. As well as a bit of MNOG for the background [image_2020-10-17_112351] The mask is intended to be a more “G1-ized” version of G2’s mask of creation. To here today I present my interpretation of Artakha with my own design for the legendary mask of creation. [Untitled326_20201016081554] For this piece I did a bit of research regarding actual forging and blacksmiths so I decided that I wanted to draw Artakha in an authentic forge while creating the mask of light. However for the hammer I had to shrink it because sculpting a small piece of metal with a large warhammer was very impractical so I downsized it to that of a regular hammer like one you would find in your house. While sketching, the piece felt a little empty so I added some chains and a few easter eggs from Bionicle canon. I drew him holding the fiery hot avokhii with his bare hands because 1). It looked cooler and 2). I couldn’t draw him using a tong from that angle. As for t…

Artakha the Loresmith - Canon Contest #2: Meet the Maker, Part 2 (Art)

Let me present to you Artakha the Loresmith, the creator of mysterious artifacts and the wise one who knows answers to all questions. [artakha] The gold of his mask creates nice contrast with otherwise dark-colored original MOC. My inspiration was mostly combination of Avohkii, Ignika and the G2 Mask of Creation, but I also aimed for general sense of age and wisdom. I wanted to keep his mysterious feeling by using strong shadows and vague surroundings. His Great Hammer is on his back, while the smaller, more elegant one he uses for his smith’s work lies in front of him. I wanted to include something he had created in the picture, so I opted for the Nuva Cube, which is one of the most mysterious and inspiring artifacts Artakha had created. Hello there! Finally managed to finish my entry. Tried to stick up to the early years’ comics design as much as I could. The scene portrayed on my artwork is one of the most popular and loved by fans (myself included) scenes featuring Artakha, his first physical appearance. The stuff on the background is a torn off by Tren-Leva-Krom wall panel and the machinery that was hidden behind it. Some of you may wonder why is the maker himself surrounded by some sort of steam. Firstly, to add some dynamics to the shot. Secondly, Artakha has just teleported in a room hidden deep underground from a warm place like his island. Hello! After severals days (and weeks) of work I finally present you my submission for the Artakha art contest. [Artakha_black] I recreated the scene in Reign of Shadows, were Artakha was seen for the first time after millennia. [Reign of Shadows] I followed a more MOC accurate approach for the design, similar to the first BIONICLE comics. I drew him from a low-angle to give him more high and imposing posture, without being overly aggressive. I originally intended to change the cape color to look more like a king, since the black one looks too tyrannical to my taste, but it was in conflict with the rules. Artakha the Ruler (Meet the Maker Contest entry)

So here is my entry. [Артакха2] [рожи] I don’t really have to say a lot this time , since I didn’t chance much in the original MOC. Except for 2 things: added gradation to the color, as a nod to the Karzahni set, and changed the mask to give the artwork some of my own design. Most of the symbols are some made up ornaments (vaguely based on Aztec patterns), used as a stand in for Glatorian language and/or ornaments, since they also had some geometric shapes associated with their culture. So, yeah, hope you enjoy my entry and good luck to the other contestants! [update] Had to remove the lime torso gradation to comply to the rules.
