Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve been using LDD (Lego Digital Designer) to do my MOCing. Does this count? I just straight up don’t have the pieces or money for the pieces to do real MOCs.
Anyway: So I was working on my first ever MOC (still am), and I needed the Glatorian life counter piece for my torso, so I was scrolling through the item list, and after about a half hour of looking, came to the conclusion that they didn’t have it on the item list (they ended up not having it), so I had to settle for a substitution. So eventually, I finished up the torso, legs, arms, etc. and put them all together. I clicked the ‘select all connected’ button to move the entire figure, but was stumped to see that only the top half of the figure would move. Too tired to figure it out, I closed the program. Woke up, opened program, got message that said ‘one piece was not placed correctly, so we removed it’. I was confused, but disregarded it. Since I was pretty much finished with the build (save for the mask, a Noble Huna, which they don’t have), I decided to start posing the figure. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. I suck at posing digital figures, apparently (but thats not the point). While posing the figure, I clicked the wrong axis and moved the entire upper torso to an angle. Thats when I realized that the substitution for the life counter piece was the piece that had been removed. I cried that night. The worst part is that I have that piece on my nightstand. Because the torso was at an angle now, and I suck at posing, I couldn’t get both halves of the body to meet in the middle and connect. I eventually fixed the problem, but realized I wanted blue and white as the color scheme, as opposed to blue and black. Then there’s still the issue with the mask. Now I’m having trouble rendering it to a jpeg. Oi. Should I start a campaign to get me free parts? /s?
I’m guessing you used the hinge align tool. No worries; like a typical file, all you have to do is click the undo button. Works like a charm.
On the other hand, posing on LDD is as hard as animating. If something comes apart due to not being linked properly, put it back on later. Lego hasn’t devised a method to linking parts together like the “parent link” or something in animation jargon.
It’s kind of like Photoshop- next time just hit undo.
I use LDD for all my MOCs that I want to present, as I have very few physical parts to make MOCs with, let alone many parts of similar colors. LDD allows me to make MOCs like the ones I have posted on these message boards.
Anyway, are you referring to this piece?
If so, here’s how you find it in the normal LDD theme:
Open the divider devoted to wheels and their accessories, the one with a picture of a wheel on it:
Then scroll down until you see a group of pieces in the configuration below. It should be where the arrow is pointing to.
Here’s where it is in the LDD Extended theme, too:
I hope this was helpful.
Oh, and to take PNG screenshots in LDD, press CTRL+K.
Thank you, but I meant the other piece to the life counter. But, now I know when I need a gear looking piece! Thanks!
Ah, so you mean this one?
I am sorry to inform you that you are right. It isn’t in LDD, much to my annoyance.
There is an okay substitute, though:
It won’t work in all situations, but it is the best one I know of.
Lol, that was the one I tried. XD
Ah. Okay.
I’m pretty sure it’s the same piece, but the print isn’t available.
