Oh man this is going to be a fun podcast.
one thing i find kind of weird is…
if ekimu knew the whole prophecy all along why didn’t he just prevent anything from happening in the first place? did he really sacrifice so many lives just for the sake of destiny?
these spoiler tags are getting annoying i guess it could be seen as if Ekimu would try to interfere there could have been drastic changes to what happened and Ekimu might have created another mask to counter the moup switching his role with Makuta and making Ekimu evil
Well I guess he just understood that it was going to happen wether or not he did anything about it, the thing about prophesy is that it says whats going to happen not what might happen if certain people do certain things
Get used to them. They’re solid and mandatory for the next week.
I like the fact that the beasts where shown to be almost indestructible with their masks being their only weakness.
That and that the beast being elemental power enhanced Shadow Traps
i also like the fact that my theory was almost right… the last part however was where i was wrong…
and really, im sad with the fact that JtO (and most likely Bionicle itself) ended the way it did…
and i swear… if its true that LEGO is canseling Bionicle this early, i am going to flip so many tables
The beasts really felt like pushovers though, one hit and they shatter, and when it gets to the point where they’re defeated by simple villagers not even using weapons it kinda seems that way.
And for continuing Bionicle in my childish optimism they could probably just do a pseudo reboot? like the toa come down again when they’re needed.
or it could take place some years after the events of 2016 like say 7 or 40 years.
Also I like how gali does stuff now, and the way some characters interact with one another, like Onua going to Ekimu to seek wisdom cause Onua is the wise one. Theres also a lot of standing around and talking, thats a pretty lame way of delivering exposition, make the characters run through the regions or something don’t make them look like they’re wasting time talking, maybe Umarak wouldn’t have started the ritual if they didn’t stand around and take action. And also they stand around and talk when Tahu needed help and it bothered me, like Lewa stopped before helping Tahu to talk .
I enjoyed it, even though the ending was a bit anti-climactic. I think the beasts were really similar to the Bohrok in a few ways (Elemental, Krana = Masks, Mutated) which I enjoyed, and the villagers got more screen time (and cool weapons and shields). Umarak’s voice didn’t bother me nearly as much as I thought it would, and the Shadow Realm Metal Gali Solid segment was cool. Also, the ending reminded me of MNOG. All the Toa are gathered and face Makuta and defeat him with the power of the combined elements. In fact, JtO’s ending and MNOG’s ending are similar endings (sans Matoran and Vortex Makuta, among other things). The capital city looked cool and the fact that there’s an underworld was also interesting. I loved Makuta’s Mask Maker form and how he at least had good intentions at first before he spiraled down into wanting god-hood. The fact that the Toa were cast into the stars remind me of so many ancient stories of deities and mythical creatures being sent to the sky as asterisms. 2016 felt way better in terms of story and world-building, and I think this is a nice end to a chapter, whether the story continues or not. The ending, while short and underwhelming, actually gave a lot of freedom to Bionicle fans. Whenever Okoto needed heroes, the Toa would return again, leaving all sorts of adventures, stories, and scenarios to the imagination. While everyone is angry or dissappointed or sad about this, I think this is not as bad as many make it out to be. Bionicle will still live in the community at least, and G2 has brought us a lot of new and interesting things. I’m happy that Bionicle has another branch to its name, one that feels more true to its roots.
Hopefully, Okoto has a good enough reason to call the Toa once again.
Thats true, and the open ending allows people to write their own continuations kinda like NickonAquaMagna did much easier.
This is going to be one heck of a podcast, I can tell you guys that much.

I guess you could say we saw the return of the BIONICLE Stars AM I RIGHT UPTOP
Please no…
…
I’m very disappointed. Like, I’m almost angry.
This better not be how G2 ends. We hardly saw Makuta (and never even saw his powers), we never saw the powers of the MOUP, and we still have no clue where (exactly) the Toa come from. Yeah, they say “the stars”, but…that can be interpreted in so many ways. We never saw what became of the elemental creatures, or the shadow horde, or anything.
That ending came out of nowhere. One second, Makuta was coming out of the portal. The next, it was over and Ekimu was telling a story. (And why wasn’t Ekimu wearing the Mask of Creation at the end?!?)
And what about the larger questions in G2–where did the MOCR and MOCO come from? What about the Vahi? And are the Toa the same as from G1? We will never know, now.
Also RIP every collectable mask in the summer wave.
I wonder what Umarak meant when he called Ekimu “Ancient One.”
As I’ve said in the 2016 discussion topic already, the rushed ending might just be there as an excuse to kill off just the Netflix show while giving people who watched only the show and nothing else some closure
I swear, I wasn’t trying to annoy him…
It was great. The Okotans punching the beasts was amazing. I did expect something along the lines of the Toa essentially being gods, but I didn’t expect this ending. The whole “crossing the streams” thing was a bit anticlimactic IMO, just because Makuta did literally nothing. I feel bad for the creatures, though, because their friends are gone, possibly permanently, though I doubt that. What I believe will happen is that next year will actually have the Toa return, in their new forms, possibly similar to what Pohatu exhibited when he “got angry enough”. So that’s what I expect for the next wave, if it’s the last wave, I don’t know. But it was good, and though I did not cry at the end, I came close. Also, I imagine that the Toa have some nice apartments up in the stars. XD
Okay, so I just sneakily watched the last two episodes (thank you subtitles), and I can’t help but feel that a lot of the doomsaying going on is way too preemptive.
Izotor very clearly says that the Toa will return in a time of need. That’s a very open ending. Why is everybody jumping to the conclusion that, now the Toa have gone back into the stars, Bionicle as a whole has ended? What’s to say next year’s story isn’t a few/many years ahead of the events of JtO, or is maybe even a prequel story? Makuta and his chums are still mulling about in the Shadow Realm, so what’s to say they won’t all find another way to escape in the future?
I can’t help but feel that the whole sky-is-falling atmosphere that’s been rampant in the Bionicle fandom as of late has just really put people on edge, and has lead too many to interpret the conclusion to the Netflix series to be the conclusion to whole franchise. This, on top of there very clearly being an actual plastic MoUP, leads me to feel that G2 will most likely continue into next year, or maybe return after a hiatus.

thats… actualy a good point.
i mean… that could be what the anounchment is, LEGO just saying that Bionicle is not ending, they are just putting it on a hiatus.
