I am wondering what the process for creating Kanohi before the invention of Kanoka was. What happened when a Matoran’s mask broke in the first 30k years of the Great Spirit Robot’s existence? Did they have mask making facilities that just churned out powerless masks from treated protodermis in Metru Nui before the reinvention of Kanoka in Ko-Metru 4k years before the Great Cataclysm? If that’s the case, what was the process, however truncated or interpreted in your mind, to create Kanohi with powers prior to the X Kanoka + Y Kanoka + Z Kanoka process described in Metru Nui - City of Legends?
And as an aside, were masks less physically featured before the Awakening by Velika was fully flourished into distinct cultures? More uniform, anyway, before the stories of the Toa Heroes and shapes were assigned to powers by artisans?
