Ash calls Gawain for help on a mission.
They head into a cave to take care of a couple of Ursas too close to routes used by traders and the post. “Well, this’ll be perfect for ya, huh, Gawain?” Ash says.
“What do you mean?” he asks.
“Well, tight quarters, not a lotta room, could be perfect for your style 'a fighting.”
“Well, in that case, why don’t you stay behind me?” Ash nods and walks behind him. “Ever fought bears in a dark, cavernous space before?”
“You have no idea,” Ash says, referring to one of the shrines he had to go through.
“Well, count this as one for me,” Gawain says, aiming his weapon ahead. Ash was interested in its design, but keeps focused. He sniffs the air and stops Gawain. “Wha-”
“Shhh . . . they’re close.” He looks on the ground and squints his eyes a little. His eyes turn slightly turquoise and he sees Ursa footsteps heading directly ahead. Ash whispers, “Better let me go first.”
“Why?” Gawain whispers back.
“My moccasins are padded. I can be quieter and get closer. Be ready to jump in when you see an opening.” Ash walks slowly deeper into the cave, his steps making little sound as Gawain carefully takes a knee and keeps vigilant.
Ash sees the Ursas, resting on the ground as Gawain slowly follows. Ash shifts into a coyote, much to Gawain’s surprise, and approaches them. Being the coyote he is, he decides to play a trick. He first disguises himself as a Grimm, covering himself in soot and black ash with some white here and there. He then signals Gawain to hide, and Gawain sneaks back a bit. He covers the floor with ashes and hardens the ashes around the Ursa’s limbs. The sensation of the ashes wake the Ursas, but when they see Ash, who acts curious and sniffs around the cave, they give a couple of deep warning bellows. Ash quickly jumps up, leaps of the cave wall, shifts back into human form midair, and swings Stardust into the Ursa’s back. The Ursa roars and the other struggles to break free from the ashes. Gawain runs in and starts chopping the limbs of the one Ursa while Ash jumps to the other. As Gawain was chopping one by one, Ash switches to a reverse grip and uppercuts the second Ursa’s jaw with Stardust’s blade. Then, using his Aura, he slams his palm against the Ursa’s head, causing it to fly backwards, breaking the ashes that held it, and explode. The other Ursa breaks free with a paw left and swings at Gawain, but Gawain’s semblance activates, his sash glows green, and it misses, letting Gawain jump backwards to get some distance as Ash hurls Stardust into the Ursa’s eye and pulls on the bandage, firing Stardust and making a huge gash of the Ursa’s head, killing it. Gawain walks up to Ash.
“So, that’s your semblance?” Ash asks.
“Yeah. It’s kinda connected to my sash. It’s a bit of a passive one as it makes whoever I fight miss their attack. It usually activates when I need it most, but I’m on my own from there, at least for a while.”
“That’s awesome.”
“Not as awesome as yours. You can ■■■■■■■■■■ and control ashes.”
“Well, I assume the shapeshifting was an ability passed on from my tribe. The second, though, is my semblance. So, should we head back?”
“Yeah, sure. I had a lotta fun.” They exit the cave and head back to the city to get the bounty.
Arkane:" Um, what are you doing?"
OOC: I’m back, and it’s great to see you back @H-Roar ![]()
Coral stays where she is
“Work.”
Arkane:" Are you mad at me or something?"
Coral continues to quietly stay in place
“No. Just disappointed.”
Arkane:" What, why?"
She smiles and looks back “You didn’t tell me that my dear friend was here.”
Arkane:" Oh, yeah sorry about that, but she might not remember that."
“Screw that. For does it matter?”
Arkane:" I don’t really know."
“Just because her memories aren’t there doesn’t mean that friendship is gone.” She finishes dressing in and heads off to work “I’ll be going. I’ll see if you can see my sis.”
