Salvation: Part II

Gatecrasher backpedals quickly the flames lapping over his sealed armor. He moves his cannons into ready position, and limbers his spear.

“We got company!” he calls over his shoulder.

Spectrum looked at the orb in front of her, then at the corresponding obelisk.
“T-Throw!” She said to Topside, wanting him to throw her at the obelisk.

The drone’s conduits flash as its flamethrowers reconfigure themselves, and the guardian shoots two fireballs at Gatecrasher.

Topside’s large shoulders served a purpose after all. He picks up Spectrum, swings her around, and lobs her at the obelisk corresponding to her sphere.

Spikes of black rock suddenly burst from the bubbling magma beneath Spectrum, however, threatening to skewer her.

Spectrum squealed and tucked into a ball, the spikes nicking her arm and cutting into the armor slightly.

Gatecrasher deploys his sheild, before thrusting his spear at the flamethrower nozzles, hoping to jam them.

Spectrum lands close to her spire, as a second sentinel machine teleports between her and her objective. This one had been modified, too: slabs of granite studded with gemstones replaced much of the armor on its upper body, and it had jagged clusters of energon spikes on the ends of its arms.

Gatecrasher successfully lodges his spear in the nozzle of one of the flamethrowers, preventing the drone from using it. However, the machine points its other weapon at Gatecrasher’s midsection and shoots a blast of flame at the Deception’s side.

Gatecrasher grit his teeth (or whatever passed for them), and took the pain. As he fought through the pain, he twisted the spear, which should bend the nozzle into unusability.

Assuming he succeeded, he would shove the spear to the side, which should jerk aside the machine.

Gatecrasher’s spear tears up the nozzle from the inside out, rendering this flamethrower inoperable.

The Fire Guardian falters, shutting off its still-functioning flamethrower as it stumbles to the side.

Gatecrasher uses this loss of balance to bash the Guardian with his shield presumably knocking it to the ground.

Spectrum flipped out a saw on one hand, clutching the orb with her other arm. She charged the sentinel, her saw whirring dangerously.

OOC: just for some clarification, Gatecrasher’s disabled the flamethrower on the Fire Guardian’s right arm.

IC: Gatecrasher knocks the Fire Guardian back, but not over. As it steps away from Gatecrasher, his spear is torn out of the flamethrower it had just ruined.

The Fire Guardian raises its remaining flamethrower and launches another fireball at its foe.

The Earth Guardian stops on the ground, and the igneous rock beneath Spectrum’s feet shatters.

Gatecrasher turns and takes the fireball on his left shoulder, his shield being on the other side. The pain causes him to drop his spear on the ground.

Once the flames subside, Gatecrasher is seen cradling his left arm. He moves a cannon into position, and fires an AP Shell at the other flamethrower arm.

Spectrum leaps towards the sentinel, trying to cut its chest open.

The Fire Guardian’s left arm is blown off below the elbow, and the machine steps back, now robbed of its primary weapons.

In a final attack, the sentinel’s conduits flash brightly, changing from orange to white. Drawing from its own power supply, it unleashes a blast of scorching heat that fries its internal mechanisms and sizzles the shards of glassy obsidian around it.

The Earth Guardian kicks at Spectrum as she jumps.

Spectrum tries to grab onto the Guardian’s leg as it kicks, screeching in a very high-pitched voice.

Gatecrasher cries out at the heat, rapidly backing away from the overheating bot.

Spectrum is able to latch onto the Guardian’s foot, which the machine plants back onto the rock. It jabs at Spectrum with one of its energon spikes.

With the Fire Guardian now dead, the iris around the obelisk’s port opens, ready to receive Gatecrasher’s sphere.

Gatecrasher picks it up from where he dropped it, and places it in the obelisk.

Spectrum swipes at the spike with her saw, trying to cut it off.

The sphere clicks into place on the pillar, and a loud sound like the toll of a great bell echoes across the arena. One down, three to go.

Spectrum cuts off the incoming spike, and the Earth Guardian withdraws its arm.
