When and How.
In what regard? To how he attracted fans?
While everything JMP just said is true… I’m not sure that’s entirely it. You see, you can be a bionicle content producer on youtube and not be a biotuber.(Just look at Vrahno or TTV)
Biotubers are… different.
Out of context, JMP is correct, but in the past Biotube was a community. There were the big guys, notably Kylernuva135, Edictarts, Biorock, Shadowgear, DawnONSSD Jetfire28, Inikalord, Scottjt, and a few others. Some of which fizzled out much earlier than others(I doubt many of you know who inikalord or Jetfire were), and some were less dramatic than others. Regardless, they ended up becoming public figures, and thus personal drama and interactions among them became everyone’s “problem”. So much so to the point that fans would go to the extremes of making videos in which X big biotuber’s self moc was beaten up by the fan’s self moc, creating channels to mock X big biotuber on, and indiscriminately giving X big biotuber’s every video a low rating(Yes, they had stars rather than just like or dislike back then).
The rest of the community was made up of smaller content producers(like myself, flamertron, toamahrileader, timeroutter and a very long list of similar channels) and fanboys(Which often was just part of being in the community; content producers included).
So, to answer your question definitively, a biotuber is a part of the biotube community(not just anyone making content about bionicle on youtube).
He was also ToaMagmare, right?
The Takuru/Scarecrow guy?
Just remembered that it was 28, but yeah. That guy.
I think the key difference is MOCs.
Those who create MOCs on a regular basis and talk about them or create stories/stop motions are those I would consider to be apart of Biotube. Those who produce content surrounded or inspired by popular media and make it either juvenile or satirical. Those videos that Scottjt created (towards the top of this board) were the bread & butter of Biotube for a while, as well as MOC reviews and text-over-video story lines.
Those outside of Biotube, people like LEGOjang, LegomationStudios, and TTV work outside that nucleus that is Biotube. They produce content based solely on the toys and stories. That’s it. TTV makes content around the sets, and things that are more-or-less canon, and embrace the brand, without making MOCs. The only MOCs heavily featured are the videos @Mesonak puts out on the channel.
There is a divide in those who base their content solely MOCs or Bionicle itself. If TTV were to have a series of videos of not only featuring MOCs, but interviewing the MOCist, it would bring a whole section of the community in that is not heavily shown in the channels content. Outside of Meso and recently Potu talking about MOCing techniques.
However, TTV didn’t need to do that. These guys penetrated that Biotube nucleus, and anything toxic that was there before is either gone or no longer as public as it use to be.
Shadowgear, Turaga among the Matoran.
I wouldn’t go that far. I was just there when things got bad. (and also was the catalyst of that a lot of that too). But I think all of that was a fantastic learning exp for not only how I treat different online platforms and media creation, but also how to treat other irl. That there are real people behind that comment box talking to you, and what you say really hits home to some.
Regardless of how people think of the TTV crew, they did a good job of bringing people from different communities together because of the same interests.
I do believe you mean @Venom
#VENOMAK
I HAVE FAILED EVERYONE.
Voices sound similar to me.
Well, we can atleast know his legacy will live on in us…
I’m currently watching The Hydro’s Chronicles, and it really was the Golden Age. Good Story, good MOCs, fun to watch. He took pride. To bad he’s inactive nowadays
For the time, yeah they were pretty good.
Yup. Some of them I think still look good. Makuta Cordak, Raduka, Proto-Beast(To a degree ) and the big thing with sharp teeth who’s name evades me now
YeahIi remember watching him when I was about 11 or 12. I overheard he hasn’t been active due to one of his family members being present at the Boston bombing from a few years ago. I can’t remember exact details though. He hasn’t been active for 3 years since.
better believe it, buddy
you said it best
