Well… I spent all day working on this guy, and I’m pretty happy with how he turned out (the day I stop using hunchbacks and gorilla arms is gonna be a cold day in hell).
First, some quick explanation for why I changed from Acero (My previous self moc)
Acero and Mayple are two sides of the same coin. One is every negative aspect (and a touch of positive) of my personality put into a physical body, and one is the positive stuff (with a bit of negative).
Mayple is the positive one.
I was sorta looking back on the story I had written for Acero and realized that I can’t really relate to this guy anymore. He was hurt, abandoned and completely freakin nuts. I kept him around because dayum I love that sir rascus helmet, but he wasn’t really me anymore.
AND SO… THIS LOVELY GUY WAS BORN FROM A TABLESCRAP THAT I ENDED UP REALLY LIKING AND IMPROVED UPON FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS STRAIGHT
This is Mayple. In case you haven’t noticed already, Mayple is a bit… unusual. For one, he’s wearing a cloak. Not many Okotans do that.
Wellll that’s coz he’s not from Okoto. He’s an islander that got kidnapped by pirates, ended up working for them, and got shipwrecked off Okoto’s shore. Luckily, he survived, and barely swam to shore, despite losing his eye in the crash.
His weapon is from his home island, as well as his mask and cloak. The armor he created himself using magma infused with iron. As you can see here, it isn’t attached to his body like most Okotan armor
His species is incredibly frail and weak but generally don’t require armor due to their
A) Ridiculous healing factor
B) Lack of dangerous weaponry accessible to normal villagers
C) Small army that’s in charge of keeping the peace
But after the pirate fiasco, Mayple decided to maybe try this “Armor” thing out.
Anyway, after a while he got settled onto the shore where he used his fishing spear to, you guessed it, fish! That became his business once he got acquainted with the natives, and that’s been his deal ever since. Fish, sell, profit.
The Okotans really don’t know how to feel about him though. He’s this alien, clothed being who arrived without warning, without cause and from a far-off land. For these reasons, many believed him to be another Toa, while others believed he was sent here to destroy them, and their island. But his fish are pretty dang tasty, so most Okotans have no problem buying from him, even if they are a bit skeptical about his origins.
Only Korgot is fully aware of his past, and has sworn never to reveal it… for very odd reasons. It’s not like he’s dangerous or wanted, he was kidnapped by pirates for Makuta’s sake! And before that he was… wait…
what did he do before he was taken? Ah it doesn’t matter, he’s too friendly to have anything that serious to hide.
