I’ve always wondered, did the matoran the Makuta turned into matoran always wear the masks they were shown with or did the Makuta give them new masks after they turned them into shadow matoran? If so, who made the masks? Aren’t the masks the shadow matoran and makuta wear all called “immoral masks”? Do matoran not wear the masks that Toa wouldn’t wear or would they wear any mask they have?
It’s been stated that at least the three Shadow Matoran we got as sets, originally wore noble versions of the Hau, Kaukau and Pakari, but replaced them with the noble versions of their respective Makuta’s mask after being turned.
And when they got changed back to Av-Matoran, they got their old masks back.

Kenji87 is correct, I would just add that Vican is the only Matoran who willingly kept both his immoral mask and mutations after he was reversed to Le-Matoran.

Where did they get the immoral masks after becoming shadow matoran? Did the Makuta just supply evil masks? Did they have evil masks lying around for Matoran Halloween?

Makuta gave them to them. They also mutated them to have wings and claws.
