Star Wars: Stranded on Zoma V

Rook turned to their commanding officer, “How is your injury, Sir?” he asked as he began searching the nearby area for any medical supplies, making use of his Vibro-sword wherever necessary.

“Sounds good to me.” Boomstick said, without much thought.

Duke gave Rook a dismissive wave. “It’s fine soldier. If the boys topside are right, then we’ve got bigger fish to fry.” Duke replied, drawing his pistol as they neared the end of the hanger.

Once near the gaping hole in the hangar, Legacy carelessly tossed his blaster aside and broke into a dead sprint, running out into the light before quickly dropping to a knee, taking aim at one of the airborne vulture droids, yelling “Let a professional handle this boys” before firing a rocket without bothering to check the condition, number or plans of the other soldiers present.

OOC: yes, I know its a stupid and cocky thing to do, but its definitely the kind of thing he would pull before it properly hits that they are stranded on the planet with no support

Boomstick does not, and did not, condone behavior such as this.

If the vulture droids didn’t have a bead on the clones before, they definitely did now. The rocket barely caught one in the wing, yet while it seemed to do no small amount of damage, the droid was still airborne. And flying right toward Legacy’s position. And firing at him.

The other droid still headed toward its fallen comrade.

“Soldier, what are you-” Duke’s rebuke was cut off as he dove for cover behind some crates that lay scattered around the gaping hole that was the ship’s front end.

Tesz paused about halfway up the exposed structural beams, as she turned to regard Wannabe with a cocked head.

Dang, how will the droid make it up here. Tesz thought, then a long dangling wire caught her eye.

Holding onto the scaffolding with one hand, she threw her lightsaber upward, the spinning weapon illuminating the tall shaft with a deep green light before cutting the wire with a satisfying slice. The wire fell to the ground with a heavy thud, and Tesz barely manage do catch the end as it fell.

“Wannabe, try tying this around your waist, and we can pull you up once we get to the top!” She called down to the medical droid as she resumed her climb, holding the wire in one hand.

Graphite was a medic. He was a doctor. A scientist, even.

He still wasn’t convinced that adrenaline wasn’t some mystical fluid that had the capability of replacing blood.

However, he wasn’t checked out enough for the orders not to register. Words formed in his throat, grating out with a choked harshness - it felt like there was at least a centimeter of soot caking the insides of his throat still - “Sir, yes sir!”

Cursedly, he hesitated, unsure of whether to turn his back on the hostiles, but after a split second’s indecision, he began to beat a hasty retreat, doing his best to use cover to his advantage…

Graphite felt the chest-crushing soundwave of the rocket firing, before he saw the rocket itself.

It was a wreckage, but it was a hanger. The rocket was horrifyingly close to Graphite when it passed him. While he may never have been in danger, he dove to the side anyways, as the rocket passed overhead and to the left a handful of meters.

He picked himself up quickly, eyes wide behind his visor. He didn’t know what to think or feel. The action was so outrageous as to be beyond outrage. Even as his thoughts were drowned out by the damaged vulture’s laser fire, an utter disdain for the rocketeer suffused his subconscious.

But that was the subconscious.

Instead of exposing himself while so close to laser fire, he again did his best to reposition in the hangar, and then glanced around to assess the proximity of both the incoming party and the vultures.

Wannabe snapped his head around as he heard the lightsaber cut metal. The wire dropped to the ground and the instruction was given.

Well, an order cannot be refused. However…

“I lack the appropriate motion.” Wannabe demonstrated to Bravebird by showing how his arms only swiveled at the shoulder and bent at the elbow. “Further assistance is required if I am to fashion a harness.”

Buoy continues to mess with the downed vulture until he can get a thermal detonator enough inside to ignite its fuel. He’ll look up to see if he can spot the oncoming droid, mostly relying on hearing to tell where it is if he can’t spot it.

Regardless of the droid’s position, he shoves the grenade inside and set another nearby on top so that they could shoot it. The timer on these things were short and didn’t have the means for remote detonation, so this would be the best he could do. Once placed, he rushes back to his old cover to hide, hopefully before any vultures can spot him.

Graphite was in-between the two groups of clones, about 25 yards away from each. The droid damaged by the rocket was flying low overhead, seeming more concerned with the clones in the hanger as apposed to Graphite himself.

Unfortunately, the droid did seem to spot Buoy, or at least the fallen vulture, as it swung low, pelting the area with a barrage of blaster fire.

Cursing, Legacy barley managed to re-sling the rocket launcher while sloppily diving off to the side towards cover, unaware of the other troops and officers around him

Buoy dives for any nearby cover, quickly repositioning himself to get eyes on the droid. Trying to determine its position and hoping it decides to land nearby.

Dust and shrapnel shot up around Legacy as the impact of the blaster bolts reverberated through the hanger. Luckily, none of the shots injured any clones, but the hangar did make an ominous creaking noise as the vulture droid attempted to pull upward and prepared to circle around Legacy’s position again, soaring over Graphite’s position. Though it did seem to be consistently losing altitude, and was struggling to stay in the air.

The droid didn’t seem interested in landing as it looped in the air, turning toward the front of the hangar to aid its fellow droid against the rocket wielding clone, leaving Saddle and Buoy behind, for now.

As he gets to his feet, Legacy finally takes quick note of the clones immediately around him and reaches to grab his blaster only to remember he had tossed it aside earlier.
Yelling “Come on runners, get some blaster bolts in the air!” at those around him while more quietly adding “After all, its the only thing your good for” with heavy spite in his voice as he heads into the hangar to retrieve his discarded weapon.

Buoy focuses on calming is breathing, looking out from cover as the vulture flies past them.

“What now?” Buoy asks in general.

Lasers cut through the air as the vulture droids continued to menace the front of the ship. Luckily, Legacy’s rocket finally paid off as the damaged droid’s death spiral continued as it tried in vain to pull up before joining the wreckage of the venator with an explosive crash.

Duke gave Legacy an appreciative nod, probably the closest thing to a “good job” the trooper would get from the captain, before he motioned for Boomstick and Legacy to join him in a sprint toward the other clones at the front of the ship.

The final droid looped through the air one final time, this time skimming low near the positions of Buoy and the other clones close to the first destroyed droid. The machine seemed set on getting a kill, and was wiling to fly low to ensure the shot.

“Could you help him with that…soldier.” Tesz called down to Bravebird, a layer of annoyance covering her anxiety, but making sure to tack the ‘soldier’ at the end in an attempt at giving off some sort of authoritative command.

Her eyes were still locked at the top of the now vertical hallway as she continued the climb, not waiting for a confirmation from her comrades below. The elevator shaft up to the bridge shouldn’t be to far now…

Just hold on master, I’m coming.

Last he could remember, the Jedi General had called him to the bridge for some reason. Now Scalpel felt a familiar feeling: the dead weight of a Republic vehicle’s scrap metal pressing down on him. It was heavy, but probably liftable, plus, he could feel a little wiggle room, maybe he could shimmy out?

“Gladly,” Bravebird said. He grasped the wire, and examined briefly in his hands. Should be strong enough to hold a Droid, he thought to himself.

“Anything fancy, Wannabe, or will something simple make due?” He asked, almost looking forward to what he’d guess would be an annoyed response.

OOC: Remind me not to type any more RP posts on my phone…

Scalpel strained, and managed to get his torso free. Then something caught on the scrap.
Probably my holster, the clone thought. He reached down, feeling at his belt for the buckle of his blaster’s holster. It was caught between some torn plating on the vehicle. He fumbled with it, but it remained stuck. Suddenly, he remembered the buckle’s purpose. He snapped the buckle open. The holster dropped to the ground, and he crawled out, with only a few bruises and scratches. He knelt down and grabbed the holster, and buckled it back on his belt, looking around.
“General? Commander? Anyone?”
The bridge was empty, though a few bodies protruding from the wreckage showed that much of the crew had been crushed by the debris. Scalpel felt a momentary shock. He had seen such disasters before, but not this bad. He turned on his infrared vision, hoping to see any living persons in the wreckage.

Having retrieved his blaster, Legacy jogs up to the rest of the group and drops off his rocket launcher instead of reloading it. He then starts looking for the other droid he can hear well, but he is oblivious to its exact location yet.

Scalpel looked through the windows of the bridge. The glass was shattered, chunks of it scattered across the floor, but he could make out several sections of the Venator below. With his infrared scanner, he could see some faint lights in the wreckage, but it could be burning equipment for all he could tell.
Let’s see. I’ve got a blaster, some bacta, a knife, and my armor. Maybe I should see what else I can find, he thought.
