In short, multiple rule violations, both inside and outside of the contests, and on and off the boards. His conduct was just a pain.

Hey great to see you guys back, I haven‘t posted anything for the past few weeks but I have been reading the discussions and omg people need to chill man haha, I support this zero tolerance policy, I hope things will get better now, mental health and well being are far more important than just some contest.
Now I would love to be able to help, especially moderating the art portion, but right now I am busy with work, I still do have some free time but I don‘t want to say I‘m gonna do it and then retract afterwards, so I‘ll definitely contact you If I know for sure I‘ll be of any help.

I do see a trend of people who are genuinely chill community members in this thread mentioning how they wish they could help but are busy. I hope we can get people who are like properly qualified who have time to work on this so that we can get a few more contests in before something else inevitably goes horribly wrong using the new checker system
(I also think shifting to something more creative like marendar instead of tuyet right after the hagah would be a good idea but also I could totally see someone entering mr.blobby in as marendar or something)

Yeah exactly I‘d love to moderate but I have no idea on how to do it lol, it needs to be people that know their stuff and are comitted to the rol.

this is a bit unrelated but I think a good rule that should be put in place for open ended things like marendar would be that it cannot resemble any character from an IP lego does not own. moreso just something so lego does not get into legal issues from greg approving something

Tell that to Marvel using Maxilos with Spinax’s head for one of their characters
I see no reason to ban the use of existing character’s silhouttes from other ips but if the resembleance is near match and clear it should be disclosed so voters can make their own mind about it if they feel it’s value is reduced due to it but leave these decisions to voters and not TTV unless it’s like… just a complete recreation ya know.

Thank you for the clarification on the situation and really happy to hear changes will be made to cut down on toxicity as well as support the mental well-being of the admins. I’ve continually been incredibly impressed by just how much work is involved in running these contests, and I for one hope they continue for years down the road. Kudos to both of you for spearheading these contests and these changes, and I can’t wait to see how the future contests go!

well maybe but I also feel like that is something lego legal would not like. It’s not so much about value as liability. If the fans voted on a marendar that was pallete swapped grevious greg would probably reject it because of legal reasons. but then you could run into issue of it being a character from another non lego owned IP that greg would not recognize. we dont want to risk greg getting in trouble with his boss because the community voted to make marendar look like sans undertale

It’s like you forgot the entries run trough multiple polls and the bad ones get voted out, nor does Lego care about G1 bionicle, the Greg stamp gives it a veneer of officiality but it’s not a stamp by Lego that would actually legally validate it as part of TLG
Lego owns the rights to the moc of Miserix, they don’t own it to Bomonga moc, Helryx moc or the Artakha moc and their representative artwork

I feel like a remote risk of anything where greg might accidentally get in trouble with his job even if its a very small risk is not something we should be okay with just leaving up to a vote

I just feel that its pretty disrespectful and lazy entering a contest with something like a recolor Grievious for example.
So all I really have to say is please avoid entering characters from other ips or characters who looks like characters from other ips. Its okay to take inspiration from other ips but just don’t be a copycat imo.
I also feel like this is about to spiral so can we all agree to disagree on this one?
