Seems like a good time to go over the feedback received so far.
1: The size/chunkiness: There is a reason why I made them bigger, and that’s because I have always felt that the heads of the Toa-Mata are a bit over sized for their bodies. I also generally preferer bigger, chunkier figures, so that had a big role.
For Gali’s legs, I could make them thinner, but that A: Removes the side details, and B: Exposes the inner frame; so, they wouldn’t look as good to my eye.
In the case of Onua’s arms and Pohatu’s legs, because they are their weapons, I emphasized them by making them bigger and more powerful looking. I do agree that I over did them a bit, but they ended up amusing me with their size, so I kept them, Especially Onua’s arms (Dose he have enough glue for those gorilla arms?).
2: The Colors: are not entirely my choice, as Lego part color selection can be… Dumb at times. This worked to my Benefit on Gali and Lewa, and Detriment on Pohatu.
3: The Sholders: I’ll be honest, I was not thinking of replicating the original shoulders shapes at all, I just wanted to have nice looking shoulders with a bit of Black to maintain color balance. The fact they kinda look like the Hand connector shoulders of the Og Toa is a happy accident.
4: The chest turbines: The Decorated piece in the center is just there as some mechanical detail, and because I generally love that Print.
And to answer LegoDavid’s Question: Tahu is 293 Pieces, and while I haven’t checked, Onua probably is only 100 or so pieces more, so they all generally fall close to the 300–400-piece range.
And Finaly, I forgot to mention this in the Og post: they have really well-hidden waist swivels, using the technic ratchet bricks used for the waist swivel in the elemental Ninjago Mechs that are designed for parts swapping.
