The Carpenters brought the donor piece in and began to rough it to size. Which would allow Ari to form the final cuts.
As the crew worked tirelessly the water crept up the shore towards them, each minute bringing the sea higher and higher.
Eventually, the work was finished. After everyone had loaded up, the ship was almost completely afloat. Groaning as it struggled with it’s sandy prison. It finally pulled free of the shore, bobbing slightly on the waves till it regained it’s trim.
The sweep oars extended, and the ship set off once more, headed for deeper waters and a strong headwind.
The islands surrounding it gradually started opening up as the sun got lower, and by late evening they were mere smudges on the horizon. The ship was nearing the open sea quicker than projected, the storm had blown them far off course indeed.
