They are based on the PSP game versions of Black Rock Shooter and White Rock Shooter.
If you do ever try to get into the BRS Franchise, note two things; 1: everything is its own independent story, with the only connection being the concept of BRS, and 2: absolutely NEVER watch Dawn Fall (It’s that bad).
