The Antidermis pool (Gilahu's Brotherhood Project Makuta WIPs)

More or less done (lighting here is not optimal):

Though I’m not 100% happy with the sides of the feet. The trans orange on the backs of the hands might also be a bit much.

maybe bohrok eyes attached at the sides?

Instead of the large barbs besides the Rahshi heads?

Yeah, I considered that initially, but found it being too broad… But maybe it looks better now that I have more than just the feet. Problem is, I only have two dark red Bohrok eyes left.

I was thinking to put the eye in that pin hole to give a better flow to it. maybe it’s not possible.

I could, but that still might be too broad. Also Bohrok eyes get thinner towards the front. Not sure if that would flow well.

But you do point out an interesting spot to connect stuff to… dark red flat L3 liftarms might be an option…

So, I guess before starting on anything new, I’ll also give Jasax a brief overhaul since he really does not need a lot of improvement. The one main problem I have with him that makes me want an overhaul is the look of the area around the head.

Here for reference a picture of the last version:

My thoughts for improvements are:

  • make the top less flat. The cloak should fall in a slight angle down from the neck to the shoulders
  • Add a collar (which might also help with the former point visually)
  • Replace the Pakari with a custom head?
  • Change his weapon? This “Steltian blade” contraption is nice and all, but I feel like it’s too big. Doesn’t work well with the cloak, too. Still, he needs some kind of weapon…

Thoughts?

feet feel wrong to me, replacing the prakri with a bigger mask would help, and i think that sidorak wants his weapon back

Without knowing any of the lore of the character, I think the general approach you have in mind is a good idea. Giving him traps would certainly help, but his proportions also feel a bit too… Perfect. Right now he’s just a Toa of Earth with a cape.

I’m give him a sizeable neck behind the mask to give the impression that he’s wearing the pakari to pacify and conceal the otherwise threatening aura he possesses. Likewise the spring blade should be well-concealed, hiding beneath his cloak until the moment he strikes.

tl;dr I’d know more if I knew the lore, but instead of just searching his name on the site and finding the submission I’m going to say woe is me and be lazy instead :sunglasses:

He’s the makuta of stelt lol.

As the Makuta of Stelt, I picture him basically as some kind of “crime boss” with a facade of respectfulness who manipulates local Steltian politics to the benefit of the Brotherhood.

That’s why I went for a more “regal” look with the proportions and cape.

The association with Stelt is also why he has this kind of weapon. I’d love to make it smaller, but I fear there is not that much I can do, even if I use a different blade.

  • switched out the feet
  • spent way too much time trying to improve the top of the torso before realizing the main change needed was removing the Pakaris from the shoulders (which you don’t actually see)
  • gave a custom head some tries but couldn’t come up with something I like yet
  • added a collar to the cloak
  • removed the arm blade

I am kinda thinking he definitely needs a custom head, though. Preferably one with a bit of purple
And I need to come up with a different weapon/tool… Preferably one using the Chirox blade, because that is actually a piece the original used.

The collar definitely helps with the shoulder flatness. Kinda obscures that there’s not much slope there, and obviously the change to the physical build of the shoulders helps too. I do kinda miss the arm blade since I thought it looked really cool, but if you don’t like it/don’t think it fits him, I can understand wanting to remove it.

The problem with the arm blade is that it kinda doesn’t work with the cloak because it is too large. Unless he’s holding it in front of him, it will be visible as a big bulge under the cloak.

Otherwise I do like the arm blade. I’d even use it as optional equipment if not for the fact that there would be open axles on the forearm when it is detached.

Would it be possible to attach it to the side of the arm, rather than the back?

Not really with the current build, and unfortunately that also wouldn’t solve the problem. It would still conflict with the cloak.

Alright, how’s this for a new head:

It really feels like something needs to come off of those purple parts on the top, like horns or tubes or something. With the way the head is shaped, my eyes keep gravitating there and expecting to see something more.

But otherwise, nice job! That was a pretty quick turnaround on the head design.

So, I thought about horns/tubes, especially since behind the connector that forms the forehead, there is a bit of a gap that’s very visible when looking at the head from the side.

Best I could come up was this, though, and I’m not sure if that might not be a slight bit too much. Below also the previous picture for direct comparison.

How does the new design look from the side?

Don’t have a picture at the moment, but the gap is filled by the ends of the whips wedged into the top.
