For crying out loud Sabretooth the not drawing eyes thing is getting a bit extreme
I like the purple speckling to detail his chain mail. How long do you think this piece took, with the various shades of purple and all the texture layers?
Oh I just did another piece where I did the old “shadow over the eyes” trick lol. I promise I’ve actually been drawing eyes a lot in stuff I don’t always post here! I think this whole thing took two hours. It was a simple enough composition, and I’ve gotten this type of coloring down to a pretty smooth workflow. It’s just four layers— CMYK— and the cyan and magenta make up all of the purple. It was largely as simple as “pass with 100% magenta brush, pass with 70% cyan brush, pass with 100% cyan for shading”. Any additional variation in the purple tone is just from a weathering mask applied unevenly over top of the colors
The serpent knight is really looking splendid in this artwork.
I’m liking the purple and yellow, reminds me a bit of Voltix from Hero Factory. Is the serpent faction based on any classic Lego Castle factions?
Now that you mention it he does remind me of Evo from Hero Factory as well with the Purple and Yellows mixed. Say is there a front view of the armor the knight is wearing? I ask because I would like to take a crack at making fanart of this Serpent Knight.
