Anybody know why the Toa Metru’s chestplates appear to be missing in the comics, leaving their gears exposed, even though their designs are otherwise identical to the sets? Obviously this is an extremely trivial bit of, er, trivia, but the reason behind this artistic choice is not obvious and I was just curious.
I think because the comics were based off the prototype sets, and they had exposed gearboxes, but I don’t know.
It’s because they’re based on these prototypes.
The Toa Metru were just bare chested the whole time.
including Nokama
Yes, pretty much what others have said. That is the ony reason.
Also, something I noticed a while ago - most Bionicle knock-off sets have unique pieces based on the prototype pieces.
that’s interesting
I wonder if this is also the reason why they didn’t use the same gear setup as Toa Hagah (with one pin for more freedom). Because without a chest cover that would have been odd. Or was it just because most of the Toa Metru were dual wielders?
well only Vakama wasn’t so probably
Cool! Thanks for the info, this definitely settles it.
