Before the contest, I decided that those unfinished Toa Hagah, that I made based on some fanwork, did’t have enough uniqueness: they were all multi-colored copies of Iruini and Norik. Then I decided that all my versions of Toa Haga should differ from each other on the level between Toa Okoto and Toa Mari. I wanted to make each of them unique in something, and at the same time they had to reflect their element to a greater or lesser extent.
For Toa Haga Gaaki: I originally wanted to try to combine 3 things in the model: wisdom, belligerence and the reflection of the element - water. In this situation, I was helped by the image of the ancient samurai armor (photo 2) to give militancy and ancientry; and initially I wanted to make her narrower shoulders, but then the mask would not look proportional to the body (photo 3); the mask from vahki6 (photo 4) helped with wisdom, thanks to which Gaaki looks like a warlike, but at the same time wise toa. The weapon of Toa Gaaki was chosen in accordance with the “samurai” image - Glaive (photo 5), a rather “graceful” and dangerous weapon. Among other things, I chose a silver armor color for her by analogy with the Toa Haga / Rahaga Iruini, who had a golden rhotuka spinner and in the Toa shape color of his armor corresponding? was gold, and Gaaki was the only one who had a silver rhotuka spinner in the shape of Rahaga (photo 6). And therefore, the metallic color of armor was the only element that I forbade changing in this model. According to the idea, the “streamlined” armor was supposed to create the effect of connecting its wearer with water.
