“How good are you at fighting?” Darksting asked. “What are your skills?”
Angel nods in agreement.
“Fair enough. I suppose the best thing to do is have a testing match when we get the chance and go from there.”
Bluntforce replied.
“I have no idea!”
Nebula said with an eager laugh.
“But whatever we do, I know we’ll do it together, and it will be amazing.”
“I’m good with a gun. Nothin’ much else.”
Hoverbug replied.
Axis walked over to the hover cart and retrieved her large spell book, then walked back to Angel. She opened it up and began to flip through the pages.
“Let’s see. Wind spells are basic. The best place to start. Tornadoes are a natural extension of wind spells but they look difficult to control, so the next basic spell type would be…”
She kept flipping through pages until she found something reasonable.
“Rain clouds. Those sound nice.”
“It’d be nice to have something to beat the heat,” Tripwire says from nearby. “I was gonna try building a big fan, but rain clouds work.”
“Ok, that’s something.” Darksting said.
“I’m not sure if I’ll get that far by the time we’re out of the sea of rust. But I could give it my best go if you want.”
Axis offered.
“What do you got? Any fancy tricks or gimmicks?”
Hoverbug asked.
“Well, I can turn into a scorpion,” Darksting says, transforming as he said it, “What’s your alternate mode?”
Angel nods, “Again, you’ll want to start small scale.” Angel says.
“I suppose that makes sense. Any weapons or anything?”
“Agreed,” Railgun answers. Although perhaps “amazing” is not how he would describe it, the sentiment he fully supported. Provided neither of them think of anything else to discuss, Railgun is content with just laying beside his love until they must dismount the strider.
By this point, Sheller had rejoined with Coverfire and the brothers were sitting up, bored out of their minds. Or at least Coverfire was, Sheller was almost content. After several rounds of I Spy, they had moved on to trying to spot targets in the distance. Anything they could potentially shoot for high scores.
As they watch the moving sands and sky, Coverfire suddenly perks up and points in the sky.
“Is that?” He begins to question, pointing at a small and perfectly circular object in the sky. Though before he could say more, it gets absorbed by a cloud and vanishes when it passes.
“…ROM?” Coverfire finishes, saying it almost under his breath. “I need to get my eyes cleaned, starting to see things.”
“Wayward vulture perhaps?” Sheller says.
“Wait, you saw it too?” Asks a surprised Coverfire.
“Maybe. Uncertain.” Sheller answers.
“How helpful.” Coverfire shoots back, wiping his eyes.
“Is that seriously it?” Timberjack chips in, standing up from fading his back.
“What did you do before jumping on this mission again?” He asks Darksting.
Darksting reverted to robot mode before answering.
“I make and fix tools.” he said, trying to hide his irritation.
“I’m also a pretty good shot with these things,” - Darksting held up his gauntlets - “and more or less competent with this.” and showed them his saber.
OOC: His sword is probably more like a saber than a traditional sword, so that’s why I’m calling it that.
IC:
“My beast mode is a dragonfly.”
Hoverbug replied.
“Figured that was obvious, given the dragonfly head on my chest and the wings on ma back.”
“Right. Only a small cloud. But it would still be worth a try.”
Axis replied.
“Nothing I can think of, unless you have anything of your own. I can’t give you anything since all mine are built in.”
After some time, Nebula was about to say something. When a distant noise cut through the silence.

@Chromeharpoon

While everyone was enjoying their quiet moment, it would not last. The distant roar of jet engines reverberated through the air. It was unmistakable. Anyone who looked towards the source of the noise would see three individuals. Two jets and one helicopter.
“Yeah, I can see that now.” Darksting said, trying to cover up that he wasn’t paying much attention.
“Uh oh, we’ve got company.”
“Company,” Backbreaker growls to his teammates, as he gets up from his resting place. He kneels behind the Strider’s neck, and holds his right arm out in front of him. The fusion cannon whines as it charges a shot.
“Maximus, we’ve got incoming,” Hemorrhage warns the young predacon over the comlink. “A trio of unknown bots with aerial vehicle modes. Perhaps it’s one of the Deception patrols the refugees warned us about?”
Tripwire flips his goggles down over his eyes and tries to scan the three aircraft as they approach.
“Please tell me those are friendly.” Angel asks, looking for some sort of insignia on the craft.
Timberjack almost started to smirk when the noise interrupts them. Seeing the flyers coming in the distance, he instead gives an annoyed scowl.
“Friendly or not, we should get under the strider. It’s large enough that they might not notice if we hide under it.” Timberjack suggests.
Upon hearing the noise, Railgun’s head turns towards it, lurching up almost into a sitting position. Once he sees the potential enemies approaching, he lets out almost a grumbling sigh. He looks a Nebula, his face saddened before hardening to its old stone self. As much as he didn’t want to, he lets go of her hand as he gets up, cannon loading a shell.
“Back to the mission it seems.” Railgun says quite annoyed.
Coverfire and Sheller pop up and identify the location of the noise. Sheller is already training aim on the aircraft, waiting for them to get in range. All the way the duo backs up to make a better formation with Railgun and Nebula.
The three aircraft seemed to just be passing by. Given their distance and their altitude, it was a safe bet that the group hadn’t been spotted.
The three were too far away to spot any insignias. However some basic details could be met.
The larger of the two jets was leading the party. It was mostly tan with purple accents. The smaller of the two jets was red and grey. And the helicopter was blue and grey.
“At least it was nice while it lasted.”
Nebula sighed as she got to her feet and formed up with the others.
“We should probably let the Strider go.” Angel said, “something this big doesn’t evade detection easily.”
“There’s no way they haven’t spotted the strider.”
Axis said.
“But they also don’t have any reason to attack it. Rust striders are just natural wildlife out here. If anything getting back to the ground would make us an easier target.”
“So, we just keep going until we get to the camp?” Angel asked.
