Transformers: Twilight of the Golden Age Part II

“Because being patient often yields greater rewards.” Firestorm said, “Think of it like hunting; you don’t just go for it but wait until your target or prey is at its most vulnerable then make your move, coaxing it into that vulnerable state at times.”

Maximus calmed down. Putting it that way, it was much easier for him to understand.
“Oh. I think I get it. We can act like we’re on their side. Get close to them until we get to their leader, and then I stab him in the face!”

“Not exactly.” Firestorm said, “This pack is smarter than your usual prey, exponentially smarter.”

“We need to weaken their foundation, the reason they became a pack in the first place.” Firestorm explained, “And that is an objective that will take a while to accomplish.”

He points at Piston, “If he is on our side, he can help us by allowing us to gain progress by working with them to advance the work they already have going.”

“There is strength and wisdom in working with a pack that’s already working to take down the extremists.” The Knight says, trying to summarize what he said previously.

“So what you’re telling me is that fighting them at any point is going to be a bad idea… Alright. Fine. I’ll roll with it. But as soon as things go south, I’m gonna get my carnage.”

“For the time being, yes.” Firestorm said, “But, I promise, I will let you have your fun with anyone they want dead and that you get to be in the front line when we make our final attack on the extremists.”

“Now that’s what I like to hear.”
Maximus said with a confident smirk.

The four drones in the shuttle turn and raise their weapons.

Melieon suddenly transformed and vanished

“Watch that confidence, buddy; too much isn’t good for you.” Dark said.

Seraphicon sees Daybreak and escorts her to the rebellion representative, filling her in on what all has happened thus far.

“It’s not overconfidence if you’re just that good. Besides, what are a bunch of stuffy politicians gonna do to me?”

“The Functionalists brutally murder beastformers and Shifters practically on sight.” Firestorm warned, “I’d not like for you and Axis to be victims of their brutally and racism.” Firestorm said, concerned for the Eukarians.

“These aren’t your normal politicians, these guys are madmen that want to kill you.” He said, “I’m trying to keep you and Axis alive because you’re part of our pack.”

Axis grew visibly worried. Maximus meanwhile only smiled.
“Please. There’s a difference between a regular beast former and a predacon. The moment they try to touch me or her, especially her, I’ll make them regret everything they’ve ever done.”

“And we will make them pay, even Onyx knew when to bide his time for the perfect moment.” Firestorm assured Maximus, “As part of your pack, we aren’t going to let those fanatic madmen harm even one servo in your body.” He promises.

“And if they do, they will meet their fiery end by our hands and blades.”

“I know. All I’m trying to say is that I can handle myself. Please, Axis worries about me enough as it is. I don’t need you doing the same.”
Maximus said, ending the statement in a lighthearted chuckle.

“perhaps you should take new alt modes for now, make yourselves less of a target.”

“I was considered dead, missing in action, fighting to make all you cherish possible.” Firestorm told him, “It’s my job to fight to protect the future that Primus wants for all life. And part of that job is worrying about you guys.”

“Alright. That I’m gonna say no. I’d rather be caught dead than change the form I was born with.”
Maximus asserted.

“I don’t know. I mean, it’ll only be temporary. Maybe it’s really for the better.”
Axis suggested.

The drones fire upon where they’d seen him last.

The Mutan soldiers Piston had brought with him stand near the larger fellow in the hangar.

“yes, after this mess you can change back, but I’d rather you not be the main target of the council for now”

“Hell no! This is the body I was born into and I’m not going to change that!”

“Maximus please. I know this isn’t easy, but you need to swallow your pride and just go with it. It’s only to keep us safe.”

“This is about more than pride. It’s about identity! But… If it really is just to keep us safe… AGH! Fine. I’ll do it. Where do I need to go?”
