As much as I hate to admit it and as much as I love 2006-2007…I think Bionicle really alienated their much more loyal old-school fans from the 2001-2003 years with the above mentioned years in favor of much more fickle and fairweather newer fans who didn’t keep enough interest in the theme to keep it alive.
It’s like when a very beloved rock group goes mainstream and sells out and wins over the pop crowd…only for these newer radio-friendly fans to dig through the rest of the band’s albums just find out that the rest of their discography from before and after sounds nothing like the album with the hits they like.
It happens and I think that’s just what happened with Bionicle.
