Why do some Onu-Matorans look like Po-Matorans?

I could not find a thing about this. Why do Taipu, Mamru, and Dosne look like Po-Matorans?

I don’t think Greg had input on the 2001 Tohunga colour palette

But it still seems very strange to me, that those three were colored like Po-Matorans.
