[WIP] CCBS 3D models. Protectors too I guess

I hacked LDD and now I’m making 3D models of more parts.

Updates will follow.

I believe it’s illegal…

Also, what’s that socket piece next to the hand? Or is that just a socket to duplicate on other parts?

@noob1234
It’s the hand I’ve started on

@Nopasino
Eeeh. All I’m really doing is reading files that were already included with the software.

Double post - Fixed by Scarilian

Not really, he’s not going and changing anything in the universal source. He’s just editing his own files, which isn’t in any way illegal, especially since it’s free.

It isn’t hacking then…

Many programmers use the term as a general term for using programming to achieve some goal or other, preferring the term “crackers” for the illegal version that deals with computer security.

Neat.

You can extract the models from LDD? Can you post a brief description of how you did it?

Step 1: Looked in the folders, found something that looked like an asset file. Can’t remember its name.

Step 2: Found something that extracts these files. The format is like. .lif or something. They’re an archive format, there’s a bit of a tree to it, took some digging to get to the actual good stuff

Step 3: There’s two layers to the assets folder. First is a bunch of xml-derived files. These are LDD part info. Then there’s the LOD0 folder. This has the .g files, which are geometry data

Step 4: I then coded a program that reads the binary data of the .g files into a set of arrays, then wrote that data to a .obj file. This was the hard part, though the .g format is pretty simple. I’d recommend it as a hobby exercise really

From there I just imported the .obj to Blender

Dang, I don’t have the coding experience for that. I just thought it would be usefor to be able to put something together in LDD, and then export the model to use in my projects.

Hands.

I think being able to do stuff like this is one of the best parts of 3D, really. I made the hand, now I can modify it into something MUCH better. So fun.

IDK why, but those fingers look too long, even though they’re just the right length; maybe it’s because of the lack of a thumb?

So do you plan on making comics with these?

It’s probably the lack of thumbs, combined with the fact that CCBS hands are HUGE
Comics, no plans so far.

Also here’s an update

Do you have a template for the smallest armor shell yet?

After that’s the only one used on the PoE, awesome guy he is.

I’m approaching a point where I can build at least one protector.

May we have access to the .obj files of the Ccbs parts for our use in blender?

I think distributing that would open a can of worms that I’m not sure I want to open.

At the very least, it’s a dodgy legal territory since they’re derived from LDD parts.

I might, though.
