Your Favorite LEGO Sets from 2015

It’s 2016 now, so let’s reflect; what are your favorite LEGO sets from 2015?

Let’s start this off with 10247 Ferris Wheel.

Man this set is awesome. It’s colorful, has a really cool play feature, and can be motorized, so you can have THE ULTIMATE WHEEL OF MOVING-BY-ITSELFABILITY.

Next up, 75093 Death Star Final Duel.

I bought this set for a few reasons. One, to get the new Vader, since he’s one of my favorite characters from Star Wars. Two, To have the set version of my third favorite Star Wars scene. The Final Duel does the Latter very well, and for that, I love it.

21304 Doctor Who is my personal favorite Ideas set that has been released so far.

While the Police Box itself is a bit too tall, the Console Room is where the set really is. It has everything a Doctor needs; Buttons and all. The Minifigures included are also pretty great, although I wish 11’s eyebrows were a bit more… Eyebrowy?

Although 70789 Onua: Master of Earth is the only BIONICLE set on my list, I still think this was a fantastic year for the line.

I chose Good, old Onua here because he’s my favorite Toa and I think he looks cool… That’s it.

Finally, we have 75075 AT-AT.

Now you might be asking yourself “Why did this nut job on the internet choose a MicroFighter for his stupid favorite 2015 sets list?” Well, I have a simple explanation; I love dumb, little LEGO sets. They’re like the best things ever. This lil’ baby cow AT-AT is just so fun to mess around with and is probably one of my favorite sets ever, just from the sheer kawaiiness that it expels.

5 - Lord Of Skull Spiders;
The technic based set that gave us hope that the Bionicle sets could improve, while heavily flawed in its lack of leg movement and not to-scale when compared with the Toa. This set, often mocked by fans, has come to be my favourite of the 2015 Bionicles.

4 - Darth Vader;
While some may critique the overall appearance, this set provided us with much needed mystery being one of the few CCBS sets that incorporated technic to the extent it puzzled fans in how it was constructed.

3 - Doctor Who Tardis Ideas set;
While this set sucks in terms of proportions, the inclusion of only printed pieces with no stickers does make this a good set for children. Though I’ll lament what could have been.

2 - Iron Man vs. Ultron;
An army building set for an army of killer robots with excellent printing, this set should be the top of everyone’s list if you enjoy Marvel. The best army building set of the year.

1 - Ultra Build Finn or Kylo Ren
While Finn provides you with a lightsaber, blaster. Kylo Ren provides the most covered CCBS set so far this year. While they both have minor flaws such as the lack of a hood or the humanoid face, both feel like they belong at the top of the list this year.

The lego UCS Slave 1 is bae. Nothing can compare. But besides that…
I like LoSS and Lewa. I honestly didn’t get that many sets in 2015.

Constraction-wise I think Greivous takes the cake. I haven’t bought any system sets this year but I’d say the First Order Tie Fighter looked really sweet.

I didn’t really collect much System last year, but there are still some sets that I really liked from System.

  • Creator Ferris Wheel - Wonderful build, good minifigures, solid and functional

  • Sensi Wu’s Dragon - Really solid dragon build, with great recolors, and a pretty colorscheme.

  • Titan Mech Battle - A really great value pack with 2 really solid system mechs.

  • Kopaka, Master of Ice - My favorite 2015 Bionicle set, with a really solid and filled out build, along with a nice color scheme.

  • Protector of Stone - My favorite small set of 2015. Great articulation, a fairly solid build for its price, great parts and recolors, simple, but fun and effective gatling gun function.

  • Lava Falls - Reminds me of classic Johnny Thunder sets, a simple build, with a fun action. Great minfigure value and a nice display piece.
